I keep watching and staring.....dammit....lol

The NON-Striped car in the original video at time-stamp definitely emits some supercharger whine. It's brief, right before they let off the brakes to enter the turn. But it's there, I'm 100% sure of what I heard.

On the ZL1s, the striped car indicated manual transmission...non-striped indicated automatic. If all of these cars were manual, you'd think there wouldn't be a need for the stripes at all.

But....let's not forget one thing....The Camaro team has purposefully played with us and our "spy" videos and pictures with the labels on the ZL1 mules. They could be doing the same thing.

It's possible the stripes mean nothing. Changing the ZL1 to a Z/28 would require a driveline swap (potentially) and suspension parts along with obvious front Fascia/aero bits. They may be using the same body of the car to save effort on starting from scratch. The hash marks may be a leftover from the ZL1 testing.

In another video where the striped car is pulling onto and off the ring, you can clearly hear the driver shifting manually. The reason why I suggested a Z28 RPO option for a supercharged ZL1, is there's a difference between Z/28 (with a slash) and Z28. A Z28 RPO option would basically be a looks package, while a true Z/28 is intended to be a track car.

The car that crashed is the non-striped auto version. It may be that the driver had gone around in the manual car, and hadn't readjusted to the auto car. The auto car would handle differently if indeed it's a ZL1 with a Z28 RPO looks package. That plus he had two additional passengers which would add around another 500 lbs to the car. Carrying that much extra weight into a corner would definitely affect the handling and braking.

After watching the crash video, it sounds like a manual car. You can hear the clutch clunking as he pulled off the track.

The car that crashed, I think was the manual car, and the same car claimed to have the s/c whine....The hash-marked car is possibly an automatic, and no clips of it sounding like a s/c have been heard...

.....Who knows....

Man that thing looks so nasty and I don't care if it's N/A,S/C or Turbocharged just as long as it has a V8 that sounds good with over 550 hp.

Definitely is. If you look at the driver he seems to be trying to find what gear he is in. As he seems to be looking at the shifter.

It sounds (and looks) to me like he locked up the rear tires just before everything went to hell in a handbasket.
