One person (was it a "guy" or "gal") may have designed it, but had to have gone through peer review prior to production. From what I'm told, design, engineering and production all have input prior to production.

It's very similar to the Z06's wheel, if you take a peek...just more chiseled and less "flowy".

Yes, there is something like a voting process on multiple design submissions for components like this. But that is very different from design by committee...the Aztec was designed by committee...

Yes, this. The super spokey-ness of it I called busy also is perfectly described as fussy. Too much happening and too elegant, feels more sedate luxury than aggressive thundering muscle/sports. The fact all the spokes are very thin straight lines generally originating from the center, and there are a ton of them, rather than any aggressive, sharp angles, some thicker spokes. When I saw the stunning 1LE rims I was extremely happy and figured the ZL1 would have those.

Agreed on the character not matching the car. On the various base wheels they used sharp aggressive creases but with more robust spokes as well as a more robust design in general which in my mind matches the cars hewed from stone appearance. I'm not saying I love them but I do think they are a decent stock wheel the matches the car. I probably get the split spoke and might never change them. The ZL1 wheels don't give me that same sense of belonging to the car which is outside of my dislike for them. The 1LE wheels... I really like those, wouldn't even think of changing them.

Funny this was brought up, I thought about the same thing a couple of nights ago. What if someone put the 5th Gen black 10-spokes on the 6th gen ZL1? Anyone got some photoshop skills to see what it would look like?

I like the finish/color of the wheel, being somewhere between black and silver/aluminium. "Gunmetal" is just right...

They had the 10 spokes on the test car. If someone can photoshop some paint on there, it would look better.

Not sure how long it would take but there is a post on gm inside news regarding carbon fiber wheels becoming available on GM cars as an option. http://www.gminsidenews.com

I have to agree with some others, the ZL1 wheel looks very busy and a PIA to keep clean. The 1LE wheel is very clean and striking. A 1LE replica wheel is in the works by one of the forum vendors.
