MJ, yeah, good call....I had your post in mind.
Most were comparing sounds on the track, but might not have noticed they were two different cars, so the s/c debate is still unresolved...lol.. |

The mention of the automatic/manual is interesting because it's got me thinking...if the 1LE was "too track focused" for an automatic option, or even 2SS...then what logic suggests a Z/28 should sport an automatic? I'm starting to lean towards the idea that this might be a track package for the ZL1. All opinion, and I've been wrong before...

I agree, I see very valid points for saying it could have the lt4, but I don't see too much differentiation between the z28 and zl1 at that point, so I'm thinking it'll be n/a......how cool would it be if it came with a direct injected 7.0l.....the lt7 lol
I'm not sure if anyone mentioned that yet, 25 pages is a lot to check lol

I don't care if it's N/A or FI but the fact is you literally can't tell anything in the video but the exhaust note. In the ZL1 videos you can clearly hear the SC whine even over the exhaust when it's full throttle. There are no facts here at all. Try to tell me that until you are blue in the face and you'll just pass out. We have no clue what is powering this Camaro. Not to mention the exhaust tone is very different in this Camaro compared to the ZL1. Much deeper and harsher sounding. |

Supercharger whine = LT4. If Z06 wasn't sacred enough to keep N/A then it's unlikely that Z28 will be either. GM just doesn't have any other N/A performance V8's to use.

There is more material in the camouflage grill and also something along the sides. More material, less airflow, maybe N/A?

How about it's a Z/28 with an available automatic option?....It will be the exclusive aero, light weight, tires and brakes, etc., etc., that will make it a Z/28....More so than just a ZL-1 upgrade....???

That's the rub though. Tadge outright admits that the Z06 was completely the wrong name for the Corvette to use. GM wanted to name the ZL1 Z/28 in the 5th gen but word got out and people knew it was the wrong thing to do. GM came up with ZL1 and created a new brand.

Fair enough. We didn't hear both cars whine. You are correct.

Development was happening on another N/A V8 for the C7Z, in the end they went with the LT4. Camaro team wouldn't have had to start from scratch for a more powerful N/A engine for the Z/28. |

No, not new but completely new as in FI from GM. Instead of using the Z/28 name they went back to the ZL1. It was the right choice to make and made a lot of fans happy in BOTH camps. If this is a FI car it will likely not have the Z/28 name.

If this car has the LT4 under the hood, there is no reason for it to be anything but an upgrade on the ZL1.

I just listened to it and honestly it's disappointing. I know it can't sound like it has long tubes from the factory, once you get used to that sound this is laughable. I'm sure it'll sound incredible with the right plumbing.
