Lets discuss drop in high flow air filters
I know... I know....
There is no shortage of information online regarding the efficacy and necessity of a high flow drop in air filter. With that said, I am put off by the CAI manufacturers issues with a whistle sound and the honest confusion about power gains, if any. What are the arguments, either for or against, purchasing a high flow air filter for <$50 and enjoying the sound and greater air flow when compared to spending >$300 for CAI systems. |

I bought the Mishimoto....For Me 2 things....looks/sound, and leaning out some of the stock richness!
My SS will be the new daily driver and I'm more into keeping my Warranty and improving MPG by any miniscule amount! |

Question - Does leaning out the richness take away the snap crackle and pop of the exhaust when you let off the gas?

Though, in modern times on cars like this, I don't see too much gain from filter change only unless the one coming out was clogged. I believe C7Z gets a huge benefit because C7 and C7Z (at least 1st year) used the same intake box, but we're talking an N/A to FI there. |

I prefer good filtration vs higher flow, I'll buy the OEM GM intake if they release it if it shows anything good.
I do not want any issues with warranty so my 1LE will not be seeing 3rd party aftermarket parts |

Actually it add's to it. With my CAI in now...its snap crackles and pops a bit more now. The same go for my bikes. The idle jet on my harley is a little undersized and it pops and cracks off throttle. Same for my BMW boxers, which run lean by factory mapping.
