No matter how you want to sugar-coat it, the numbers aren't looking good. 500 more sales in April for a brand new model compared to the worst April ever for the outgoing 5th gen doesn't paint a pretty picture.
I really doubt seeing the Mustang outselling the Camaro, ATS and CTS Alphas combined is sitting well with GM. It's going to take some incredibly large profit margins to make up for the deficit in sales. |

FYI:
Avis announced a while back they're adding the Gen 6 to their rental fleets.. http://ir.avisbudgetgroup.com/releas...leaseID=937479 While the amounts might not be very large, the Camaro absolutely has fleet sales already |

Here's something to put it in perspective to see what these percentages are comparing to:
April 2015 sales Mustang: 13,144, up 81% from April 2014 Challenger: 6,771, up 32% from April 2014 Camaro: 6,909, down 24% from April 2014 April 2016 sales Mustang: 12,726 (-3.2%) Challenger: 6,412 (-5%) Camaro: 7,457 s (+7.9) |

I said it before and I'll say it again, Mustang will probably continue outselling the Camaro. Who cares? Only GM should. These sales aren't in the gutter. I don't see how the project could lose money if they end up averaging 7k a month.

I agree with that, but that's only if it maintains those numbers over the long run. I don't want to see a repeat of gen 4, but these numbers aren't very encouraging. There was never the expected spike in sales you'd expect with a brand new model, and the reasons that hasn't happened have all but disappeared. There's plenty of inventory on the ground, over 16,000 2016 Camaros compared to 20,000 2015-2016 Mustangs and 12,000 Challengers according to cars.com.

But we haven't seen the business case or the projected volumes that business case was based on. So we don't know. GM may have contented and priced the program for 6,000 per month and they're all sipping Sparkling Wine this afternoon. But with the Convertible available and the 2.0t available, this didn't look like a big jump month to month. Oh and year over year against the last few months of an about to end model of 500 units isn't all that strong either. My worry? I just got back from a road trip to Flint and back to Chicago. Went through Lansing so there were two trucks with Camaros ON them along with other cars. On that road trip counting cars on the road or in parking lots I saw 1 Cadillac ELR, 1 Buick Cascada and 2 Gen6 Camaros. By now they should be far more common and they just aren't.

I stated this argument before, I believe most customers feel the 6th Gen is too expensive compared to the Mustang, a guy I work with bought a GT convertible instead of a 6th Gen Camaro because his reasoning was, why buy a hardtop when I can get a drop top for around the same price, he paid about $39,xxx for his GT Convert ....

From the "other" GM sales thread....Might mean something, but I sure don't know what it is...lol...But it sounds like everything is going to plan, even with smaller numbers than Mustang....
"Average Transaction Prices (ATP)/Incentives (J.D. Power PIN estimates) •GM’s ATPs, which reflect retail transaction prices after sales incentives, were $35,400 in April, more than $4,200 above the industry average. • GM’s incentive spending as a percentage of ATPs was 10.3 percent in April, well below domestic and many Asian competitors and in line with the industry average of 10.2 percent. • The industry increased incentives year over year by 0.7 percentage points, while GM incentives were in-line with a year ago. Fleet and Commercial •GM’s fleet mix in April was approximately 23 percent of total sales, in line with the company’s full-year guidance of 20 percent. • Commercial sales grew 4 percent, for the best Commercial month since 2008. Government sales were up 21 percent and daily rental deliveries were down 39 percent. • Small business deliveries were up 20 percent in April and 10 percent calendar-year-to-date." http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=451003 |

Don't you think GM would rather have Camaro sales @ 12,000/month ??? instead of 7,xxx ..... I imagine more sales would be better .....
