Someone Backed Into Our 2SS!!!

We were eating breakfast Saturday morning at Burger King when a lady came in and asked, "Is that your black car in the parking lot?" Expecting to hear something like, "Nice car!" or "What kind of car is that?", instead we heard the dreaded, "I just backed up into it." We were on our way to our first Camaro Club get together to show off our new baby, so you can imagine we were more than a little upset! I kept saying, "It's brand new!", and she kept saying, "Well, at least I didn't drive off! AND I didn't dent it!" I said, "No, but you scratched the heck out of it!" When I said, "How does someone back into the only other car in the parking lot?", she started crying, then I felt bad. She gave us her insurance information and we filed a claim, but as of today, her insurance company hasn't been able to get hold of her. I'm afraid we might get burned on this, since we let her go without a police report (she had 30 minutes to get her daughter to the airport to catch a flight). No one else witnessed the accident, but the people who work at Burger King witnessed her coming in to tell us about the accident, so I hope we're good! This really sucks!!!!

It sucks, I know but I give her a TON of respect for coming in to find you. Accidents happen and it's not that bad. 99% of people would of ran. I know it's frustrating, but I don't think I could of been made at her after doing the right thing like that. Unfortunately, this crap happens all the time.

Agreed! We did give her credit, as we have been hit and run before a couple of times. We weren't actually mad, I guess frustrated is a better description. And the damage isn't that bad, it's just that ANY scratch on a car like this is too much!

Sorry that your going thru this OP. Someone ran into me and just left me with $2400 damage and I had to eat the $500 deductible on my insurance. If anything has to be replaced, make sure it is OEM parts. On a positive note, I started me a man cave.

Dunno! Probably just the bright sunshine shining off of them. We have almost 4,000 miles on it - just got back from a 1000 mile trip a couple of days before this happened.

Sorry this happened to you, Ragnar! That really sucks! Definitely only OEM parts for this baby!

Ugh..."30 minutes to get her daughter to the airport" sounds very fishy. No good deed goes unpunished these days, but hopefully things work out for you. I would still try to file a police report if you can find the same people who witnessed the accident there at Burger King again. Try and call the police from there and see if they can give you video footage before it gets over written. You'll want as much evidence as you can gather to cover yourself. Don't worry about the lady anymore - she made her flight and now you've got to clean up the mess she left you. Good luck with everything.

Sorry to hear!! Hopefully they don't pull a no fault accident cause it was on private property.

Had it happen in a parking lot I got backed into and the cop said it was no fault why I don't know they backed into me and he said it was private property. I never went through my own insurance.

Don't know if he was right or not I lived with the small dent for 9 years. Cause only really I knew it was there. (Was small but still) I never took it farther.
