That's not very encouraging for potential buyers...
Brought mine in Monday the issue had moved from cold and backing up to warm and pulling into parks.

Well they found the bulletin. Went to drain the fluid and flush and found all sorts of metal shavings. They are ordering a new diff. With no freaking ETA on delivery.

Seems like a messed up deal to me my car only has 1400 miles on it.
Lucky you...I have been waiting for a week while the dealer waits for GM to call them back and tell them how to proceed....I can almost guarantee they need to order a new diff....but it's taking them forever to get anything done.
Hi Luigi91,

We are sorry to hear that you are awaiting feedback from your dealership. If we can be of any assistance, feel free to send us a message.

My dealer could not find a bulletin. But the tech said he did hear the noise (a little) and they changed the fluid out free of charge for me. But they didn't change it twice, just one time. And guess what.........the problem still persists. It's no better. It might even be seem worse at times.

**sigh**

Not sure what to do now, since I've yet to see someone post an actual bulletin number.
Keep driving it and wait for it to get worse?

Mine still has a high pitched squeak upon decelerating, with or without applying the brakes. Not sure if it is a rear end issue, NPP issue or something else. They looked at it the other day while fixing my A8 issue.

They finally called today and told me a new rear diff is being ordered, but since it's on backorder, there is no ETA...ugh.

Same with mine. And mines grinding terribly I'm taking it back and just dropping it off with the dealer until the diff comes in. It sounds like it's going to come apart at every low speed turn.

Sucks. 1500 miles and 14 days old now

so what is the sound you guys are hearing? I have a squeaking sound that I cant pinpoint, but it comes on when I'm at low speeds, both forward and in reverse. I doubt its the brakes tho since I'm not stepping on the brake pedal when it comes on, and its like a rhythmic squeak rotational squeak. could it be the rear end diff? I'm not that experienced with cars, and I have an appointment with my dealer Monday morning.

Mine is a pretty pronounced grinding mostly when backing out of a park or something and turning. You don't have to "listen" to hear and feel it. Anyone that rides immediately knows it's there

whoa, that sound really bad. maybe that's not my problem, haven't had any grinding, just squaking. hope its just the brakes needing some tlc. thanks for the response bud.

YES. Mine if anything has gotten a little worse after the dealer changed the fluid one time. I wish GM would issue a bulletin for this, or if there is a secret bulletin already someone post what it is, lol.

Just so you guys know, I just changed my rear dif fluid today (only few thousand miles on it), and it looked like thick super black sludge, absolutely just gross. Refilled it with the GM fluid the service manual calls for.....I will change it again in another 30k or so, but definitely get that "break in" dif oil out by 1,500mi if you don't want to end up having to replace it down the road when it dies.

Had mine changed at the dealer at 3,200 or so miles and the paperwork says "fluid failed".
I didn't ask what it looked like, but can only assume it didn't look good. So is the problem the fluid the fill from the factory being junk or something, or should GM call for a fluid change by 1,000 miles or something? Now I'm wondering if my diff is damaged and will only get worse over time. It still makes the noise with the fresh fluid.....

Boo.

I don't think it's a fluid problem, I think it's just like changing your oil for the first time. You're seeing a combination of dirt, metal (from break-in), and friction modifiers in the used LSD oil. Your dealer was being nice in saying "Fluid Failed" and changing it under warranty (I'm assuming that's what happened....).

For the same reason you shouldn't wait until 7,500mi for your 1st engine oil change, you shouldn't wait until 30-45k for your first LSD fluid change if you're driving this car in any kind of spirited manner. Both have moving parts under a lot of torque and heat that get worn in during the beginning of their lives, you don't want to have to entirely replace a perfectly good LSD because you didn't change the fluid frequently enough.

My engine oil was nasty at 2,500m when I did the first change, I changed it again at 5,500mi, I'll probably change it again at 10k, then 15k, then consider going to a 7500mi interval like the manual says to, just to keep flushing out that initial break in crap that's circulating. So until 15k, my OCI's are 2500mi, 3,000mi, 5,000mi, which to me sounds like a good way to work up to the full 7500mi suggested OCI. I changed to Mobil 1 at the first oil change.
