Quick update everyone!

We have some good news! A couple pieces of our production sample have rolled in and they look awesome. Stay tuned for tomorrow for some sneak peek shots of the our production sample heat shield and MAF housing installed!

With that said, we caught a few glitches in the hose sample that we’re not satisfied with. We initially thought these would be corrected by our initial ship date, but alas, we were too optimistic. We won’t allow anything out the door that isn’t up to the Mishimoto Standard and we know Team Mishi appreciates attention to detail. With the updated timeline, we expect orders to begin shipping to our pre-sale customers on May 16th. As always, the presale price will stay the same until then.

As an apology for the delay, we’ll be including a free Mishimoto t-shirt with every pre-order. We’ll be reaching out for your sizes this week. Our team is also brainstorming on a little surprise to be delivered by e-mail along with your intake to thank you for sticking with us. Thanks for your patience!

Hey guys!

Once again, we'd like to thank you for your patience. You're going to get an awesome intake sooner than you know it!

Pieces of our production samples have finally arrived and they look amazing. Our plastic injection molded MAF housing is here, want to see what it looks like?

We also test fitted the shield and MAF housing onto our Camaro SS to see how it looks. Does a quick teaser to reward your patience sound good?!

What does everyone think?

We should be getting a production sample in with all of the components for this intake soon, this thread will be updated when that happens. As soon as we are ready to release these parts, you guys will be the first to know, so keep an eye out!

Are you guys aware of the whistle noise issue CAI is having with their intake? If so, is that something your R&D are looking into as well to avoid any problems. Thanks!

The Whistle you hear does not come from the CAI it comes from the Engine/intake manifold, the stock air box muffles it.

Yes you can hear it with the stock air box but much quieter.

Ted.

I would be willing to test one of these on my dyno to give a fair an honest evaluation.

Looking for all aftermarket intake systems to run a new JRE CAI TEST.

I remember the testing you did before....VERY INFORMATIVE Ted!

Like many of us here, unless you have a dyno at home or at a buddy's shop, we are at the mercy of companies who produce performance parts for our cars.
Trying to wade through the promises and info can be challenging, and then it normally leads to opinion and arguments...still without appropriate data.

When someone, especially a sponsor, can take the time to test multiple parts for the masses and report truthful results...IMHO, that is going above and beyond, and that person receives my gratitude and Thanks....my Thanks also includes spending my money at places that take the time to help me out!

Thanks Ted, for all you have done for ALOT of us!
I really hope we can get another good CAI test so we can actually see good numbers and flow!

I know this won't make sense to some, but this Camaro will be my daily driver...I have other performance cars, so MAX performance is actually secondary to me...my main goal will be to optimize fuel economy and any added performance is just a bonus.

I just opened up a space in my garage, and a NEW ZL1 will reside there...then we'll talk max performance!

So basically the whistle noise that some of us with the CAI unit have would be the same with your intake installed? I was actually thinking about picking up your intake when its available if you can confirm your intake will not cause this annoying whistle sound...

One of the biggest functions of a stock airbox is to attenuate noise. Many have odd looking Helmholtz resonator chambers sprouting off them to accomplish this. It takes a lot of acoustical design work to arrive at these shapes. They are pretty complex as you can see below. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmholtz_resonance) I don't see one of these on the LT1 so what you get is what you get. ANY aftermarket intake will simply allow these naturally occuring sounds to be more evident...Some may be better at reducing it than others depending on design.

Here's a resonator on a LS3 Corvette...It's the wart to the left:

Here's a resonator on a 2011 5.0 Mustaing Coyote engine:

After researching a few reviews on aftermarket intakes on these new Camaro SS's, including one of Camaro6's very own @SledgeHammer70 (link here / and here), there is a very slight whistling that appears to be coming from the throttle body.

Unforuntately, this whistling did not make itself apparent during our testing, so we initially believed that our intake was exempt from such sound. This is of no fault from any aftermarket intakes currently out, it is just a side affect from GM's original design. It is, however, fairly faint and is audible at certain RPM ranges for a very short period of time.

I hope this helps guys.

To validate these gains, May I suggest you reinstall the nose and shut the hood and repeat the test.
