Perhaps it's A10 good for track, A8 not so much... |

You've tracked the A8? I'd love to hear about it. Been trying to get feedback from actual track guys. I'm really up in the air over what my next car will be and what trans.

No, I have not tracked an A8....and I don't think GM has showcased any A8 Camaros on the track either. But they did with the ZL-1 A10 video...

I have commented on this is other areas so I will just say that the A8 struggles maintaining RPM through corners for a strong exit and downshifts are very slow when using the paddles. I am a fan of the A8 for straight line performance but not road course. I think that is why you will see M6's with the 1LE and no A8 with the ZL1.

The A6 in the current ZL1 has been a great tranny, the cooling has worked well as I have seen very few issues from either track guys or 1/4 mile. It is a higher performance than the other A6. I am guessing we will see the same thing with the A10 a higher performing tranny than base model autos. Mkorgan, have you driven the new A-8? How does it compare to the ZL1 A6?

1) Use the paddle shifters, don't go full auto. 2) Don't use the engine to brake, use the brakes. 3) At the end of the brake zone downshift to the correct gear, then do your turn in (if you need to drop several gears, just hold the left paddle down). 4) Don't upshift until you have unwound coming out of the curve. It takes a little practice getting the correct gear for each curve because of the close spacing, but after a couple of laps you'll be fine.

Three, the LT has a 6L50, the SS a 6L80 and the ZL1 has a 6L90.

I guess I have to stop muther**&ing the A6 in general now and be more specific since it appears I had the 6L50 and have never even driven the other 2

I thought the 6L90 was great. The 8L90 is better and I bet the A10 (10L90???) will be even better.

A lot of tracks have just recently opened from their winter hiatus.
Or...it's also possible that..just maybe, more people like to talk a big game about 'tracking their car' than actually would ever do so. |
