Though, I will say, the nannies in the 16 are pretty good at correcting your f-ups if you don't fight them. However, adding 50% more power to a system not built for it can introduce other things. The 2010 I had with manual trans, TVS2300 and 660 crank could get away quickly if you acted up with it. Also, you can't go around dropping in less than 91 or 93 octane depending on your tune.. The kid that ended up buying my car blew the motor up in 2 months WOT from light to light to light with that and some not so premium gas.. Sad to see that... ugh So, while it's a lot of fun having that kind of power.. you can't just up and step on the gas as freely as you would when you're stock... You just have to make sure you're always aware of the hidden beast nature of this kind of setup... It's not like the old days where you're always bombarded with choppy cams, gas smell and that constant raw power feeling... FI cars are very docile under part throttle and it can be disarming if you don't anticipate that demon you unleash when you command it. |

Most of the SC companies offer warranty so at 36k I can swap to a supercharger and get 36k from the manufacturer which puts me about the end of power train. Not sure if it will work that way. |

Some people push too much and have the tune on edge and are 1 bad tank of gas away from engine death. You could have a perfectly safe tune, not go WOT too much, have good gasoline and just have a materials defect in that particular piston or ring or bearing, etc. and something goes boom. Reliability if done right, from a reputable shop, can be 50, 60, 70K miles w/o serious issues. Some on this board and Cam5 have had such high miles w/o anything serious. |
