Time from Ordering to being picked?
How long should it take for my order to be picked? I ordered first week of February and it has yet to be picked by GM. It is at 1100 status as of today.

I would talk to your dealer and see what's going on. It shouldn't take that long to get past 1100.

Your dealer doesn't have any allocation. Order from another dealer. Talk to Becky here on the forums, that's what I had to do. She had allocation available immediately so my order with her was instantly at 2000, no waiting from 1100.

Yeah its all based on dealer allocation. To give you an example I used Becky as my dealer and I was put into 2000 status right away (approved by gm). I ordered around February 26th I believe.
When I was first interested in ordering the dealers had no idea about the 2016 camaro and said they'd call me when I could order..that was like late December//early January. Then when I was ready (around February 20th-25th) I went to both dealers and asked about ordering a vert and they both said not possible yet but I can be first in line. I've gone in several times this month and they still know nothing about the convertibles and pricing for them. Its not GM sticking you, its the dealer with faulty information and willingness to take your money without any ability to actually get approved by GM anytime soon.

I ordered Feb 11 and Becky handed me my Workbench with Status 2000 before I left her building. Allocation along with the dealer's willingness to input the order in a timely manner is what counts.

These guys know what they're talking about! I ordered mine from a Dealer with no allocations in mid-November and by the end of January, the Dealer STILL could not give me a date and it was stuck in the same order status code. I cancelled the order and found one on a lot that I bought.

Rant Alert!! I prefer to do my business as local as possible. Out of state big dealers do not help build schools or other community infrastructure here.

By all means, support local business. FWIW, many on this site like the way Becky does business and how far she goes to give us all outstanding service. No bull, just the BEST experience all around. Also, the dealer where Becky works is not what I'd call a big dealer. They typically have maybe 5-6 cars in the showroom at any one time. They just happen to be good to us here. We have one local dealer here (where I happened to find my 2011 on the showroom floor) that is just HUGE. When I stopped there to check out the car they had, I started counting cars IN THE SHOWROOM and stopped counting at 100 and wasn't done yet. Find a dealer no matter where, where you feel comfortable with there operations, their pricing, their service, etc. If you feel that you might mod your car down the road, check with others that have used the same dealer and ask their opinions. Some dealers are very 'mod-friendly', while others are extreme sticklers when it comes to warranty issues on a car with ANY kind of mod. And yes I live very close to Becky's dealer and know her very well. |
