I didnt even have to go under the car. I put my camera lens from my phone down right below the harmonic balancer and snapped a few pictures from different angles of the oil pan. The etched #'s are on the passenger side. I called my service Dept. They still wanted to see for themselves to clear the recall. Said it was to much of a liability to take my word for it.

It's not a gasket like the LSx. It's old school RTV. So plenty of room for error

If any of you want to see what RTV sealant looks like -go to my photo on post 221. You can see it peeking around the edges of the oil pan.

Yep. Doing that. Also won't remote start to let the A/C or heat get it comfortable until this is done. Can't let it run unattended.

I'm going in tomorrow......I'm hoping against hope that mine is okay. I'm having a hard time dealing with somebody yanking the engine out of my car to replace the oil pan.

I had taken my car for the Android Auto upgrade last Saturday, when the service guy came up and said they would be taking care of two things. The upgrade and recall. I was like "what recall". He then mentioned the above recall and said they would most likely need to order parts. After an hour he came back and said he had good news. The upgrade was successful and my oil pan has laser etched numbers not raised so removed from recall list and no further action required.

New vehicles ok

Probably a stupid question but is it safe to assume that Vehicles produced after the recall wont have the problem?

Date of build on mine is 2/29... no recall on my VIN. Is the consensus here it's pretty much DEC and before? Am I good you think? It's snowing out and there's 0 chance of me getting under this thing in the cramped garage
