What else am I missing besides that?

Whats wrong with a physical key that is used to start and turn off your car.
I don't see how a physical key would do anything to prevent a theft. If you leave any car running unattended, remote start or keyed, it can be stolen. At least with the remote start the thief has no way of restarting the car.

What the f*** GM? That's a horrible design. In what board room meeting was it decided that there would ever be a situation where somebody would want to drive around without their FOB in range? Even if the thing had a low battery and caused false alerts, I'd prefer to get warnings every 5 minutes as opposed to just 1, which sounds very easy to inadvertently clear.

Also, you're telling me that even with the huge DIC screen in the gauge cluster, they didn't program some sort of persistent icon to warn you like when you have a low tire? We're talking about a few pixels here. That's friggen ridiculous.

This would probably be your main option I'd imagine. They can probably allow you to actually put the car in "drive."

My car now will keep running without the fob, but it will continuously beep without the fob in the car while its running.

Can't they do the same thing with a keyed car? With a keyless car, they can take it, but not start it again. With a keyed car, they can start it whenever they want.

Wow....all this fabulous technology for a keyless system....At some point you have to ask yourself, was it all really worth it?...Or should we keep delving deeper into fixing a problem that was never broke to begin with?

OMG where's my key?....(The Horror!)...More keyless gadgets and safeguards?...or just use a friggin' key, for Pete's sake...

Personally, I LOVE the keyless experience. I keep the key in my backpack 90% of the time because it's going to or from work. The other 10% I just take it out of my backpack and put it in my pocket. I think it's a great feature.

I love keyless.. Like most technologies things can go wrong but that isn't new, you've always been able to either poke yourself in the eye with a stick or use it as a tool. In neither outcome can you assign blame to the stick for what you did with it. It isn't all that hard to remember you need to have the fob with you, it is what you were doing all your life with keys.

+1
I like the key less as well. This was my fault. Dumb mistake and I learned. It's really not that hard to just keep it with you.

My 2013 370Z will beep to alert you, AND the security system will disable the car after several second of driving it without the fob inside the car.

This is what I expected too. My g37 responded the same way as yours. My GTI just makes so much damn noise about the whole ordeal it's impossible to ignore.

Geez guys at some point you have to take some responsibility and keep up with something, like your FOB! I think this day in time with technology especially on the gen 6's that we are getting to rely on the car to warn us for every little thing and we are spoiled and don't have to think anymore. Totally wrong. Don't let this techno make us stupid!!

"Rant over"

Amen!

The experience is supposed to be in the driving. Not in any I-wanna-be-playing-a-video-game way of getting the engine to start.
