You can hear the guy in the stands say " I think they come 13's out of the box" ...lol https://youtu.be/A14csbV-F4A I'm stuck at work but I was able to download Fraxum's 12.6 pass. I'll work on 3 more passes I have recoreded when I get home tonight.

I am hoping Pat comes on Friday when the SJ Camaro club will be there. Pat's current car and his last car will dust them all I am afraid. Both are 10 second cars. And Pat's new one might get to mid 10s or better. But he has been sick. He was running high 11s with with his 2015 GT with just a homemade CAI, DRs, and a canned tune. So I thought I might be able to get close with DRs. But the bassturd went and added a Paxton. Big Camaro night tomorrow at Atco. Let's see some '16s!

This is what worked for my 2014 GT500, that had about 100 rwhp shy of being double that of the Camaro. Try launching at different rpms, I'd say in 2,500-3,000 should be good with good track prep. It's all in the clutch release and throttle application. I would slip the clutch when launching, letting off slowly and once at the grabbing point, I would roll into the throttle as fast as traction would allow. I'd try to refrain from going WOT until the clutch was completely released. Everything you do with the pedals has to be done is a smooth, fluid motion. No stabbing the throttle or quick releases/popping the clutch unless you want to do a burnout. It can be done very quickly, but still has to be done fluidly. Give that a try. That's what worked best in my Shelby, worked a lot better than launch control in that car at the track. |

Thanks for that tip, I been practicing today and this past Monday, I mean I not mistreating it or smoking the clutch but I can say that I am getting the hang of letting the clutch out slight my till it grabs and simultaneously working the gas/rpm and getting minimal tire spin and still leaving decently quick.

One thing all of us M6ers have to watch out for the dreaded clutch stuck to the floor syndrome. Once the fluid get dirty then you are in trouble. Unless Chevy fixed this problem. Stingrays have the problem I think. The soution on the 5th gen was a seperate clutch reservoir from the GTO. Esay install and if you refill the reservoir every time before going to the track it prevents the problem. Anyone done this yet? Or had clutch pedal problems? http://www.jdpmotorsports.com/jdp-mo...s-zl1-jdpc1001

Many Camaro5 threads on this. Also on C6 forums I think. I searched the c7 forum and did not get any hits. I wonder if fluid getting dirty fast is fixed on the CA6. If you abuse the clutch and/or the brakes you will need to change the fluid on any car periodically, but the 5th gen Camaro was really bad with this. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=322591 Besides being slower us manual diehards have more stuff to worry about. But for me it is so worth it.

Meh, depends on what you do with it. I will spend lots of time auto crossing. A automatic would slow me down. Even at the drag strip, a well driven manual is only about two tenths slower on average, and nobody has ran a manual with a tire yet. That will bridge the gap, as the autos hook on the stock tires. Overall a automatic has many more parts, and a separate TCM, so a manual is actually much simpler. |
