Locking your doors at gas station?
This may sound strange but could apply for guys and girls.
For security, I've always locked my car doors when I get out to pump gas since my purse and wallet are still in the car. I just have my keys and credit card in my hand. With my 2013 Camaro this wasn't a problem. But with these new key fobs I think it is. Since the key is with me and I'm standing next to the car on the passenger side of the car, couldn't anyone walk up to the driver side of the car and push the button on the door handle to open it up and grab my purse and walk away? Or a guy's wallet if it's in the seat or center console? I'm just wondering if I'm thinking this thru correctly. Normally my purse would be in the passenger seat or floorboard, but maybe I need to put it in the back seat. Thoughts anyone?

I do not own a Camaro currently & know the space behind the drivers seat & back seat in the floor board is small, but would your purse fit there?
Also found this. Not sure if it is in the current settings. So someone who owns one would have to check. So, you arrive to your destination, park, shut off your car, and exit the vehicle. But since you still need to lock the doors, you’re not done yet… right? In a word, no. With a little-known feature called Passive Locking available on most GM vehicles equipped with Keyless Access, the vehicle will lock its doors automatically after the following three conditions have been met: The vehicle has been turned off All of the doors have been closed At least one Remote Keyless Entry transmitter (key fob) has been removed from the vehicle Passive Door Locking enables you to not even use use the lock button on the key fob or the button on the vehicle’s door handle to lock the vehicle. You simple park, turn the car off, get out, and walk away. And the vehicle does the rest (locks itself). How convenient is that? For vehicles with Keyless Access, Passive Door locking can be enabled in the Settings menu of Chevy MyLink, Buick-GMC-Opel IntelliLink, or Cadillac CUE. Simply go to Settings > Vehicle > Remote Lock, Unlock, Start. From here, enable Passive Door Lock. Read more: http://gmauthority.com/blog/2014/11/...#ixzz45kkVl8P7 |

I've tried pushing the button on the opposite side of the car with my wife holding the FOB on the other side. It didn't open the door.

There is a menu option in the 2016 2SS vert for passive door locks. I have not tried it yet.

Thanks for this. I've been meaning to test it but haven't had a chance when my husband is home. And I'm always alone when getting gas which is of course the perfect time to test it!

Yep, just turned mine on today. Takes about seven seconds to lock.

I lock and unlock my doors with the button on the door handle. U have to be within 3 feet for it to work with the key in your pocket etc. I never use the remote hardly. Keep in my pocket and forget about it.

This would be a bit of paranoia, if you ask me.
Always mind your surroundings period, whether the car is lock or not. Just my .02 cents |

The Camaro does have this feature. You just have to go into settings and enable it. I use it all the time. I never take my key out of my pocket. The only time I do take it out is to make the windows roll down before I get there to let some heat out of the car. (Press and hold the unlock key for about 5 seconds to make the windows roll down.)
