Use a loan calculator to figure out what you can or can't afford. Shouldn't be news that if you want a 44k car you need a lot down to make the payment 500 a month.
When I was 19 I paid about 2000 every year for insurance on a 1989 Oldsmobile. Liability on a slow cheap car. Dropped drastically when I turned 21 though. |

I'm 22. My SS msrp was $47,175. Got it for 42,500. Put 24k down. Payment is $400 a month. Insurance is $150 a month.

My 2SS MSRP was $45,975 but I got them down to $44,000. $21,000 on trade + $4000 cash and my payment is $390/month. I'm 21.
