Afm on 6spd cars

See lots of talk about afm lifters failing , people not wanting it or turning it off, only the a8 camaros have it and the 6spd ones do not, are the lifter the same ? I know the l99 had afm and the ls3 didn't. Is the lt1 motor the same auto vs manual

Hardware isn't even on it. I compared it myself to a 2SS A8 vs mine right next to each other on a lift.

Quite sure that AFM is on the a8 only.

Lol....AFM on an M6. How do you even come to that and think "this makes sense"?

What exactly did you compare? He's asking if the LT1 in manuals has the same AFM lifters that are on the auto. I'm fairly certain the manual LT1s do in fact come with the same lifters that the auto gets, it's just that the AFM feature is tuned out of the way in the calibration.

He's asking about the AFM lifters, not if the feature itself is turned on. The manual gets the same lifters as the auto, based on my research on this topic. I really wish it got non-AFM lifters and would make me want to do a cam swap just to get rid of them on the manual.

If the lifters are the same I'm asuming it has none of the electronics and selonids to colaps the lifts, thus making it " more reliable " then an auto car with all the electronics bs, I'm sure the blocks are the same but I'll bet none of the guts are in the engine for afm , same lifters would make no point then if there was no way to relieve the oil pressure to make the afm work, that's why one would think it has to have diffrent lifters

The C7 Corvette features AFM on the 6-speed cars...it's not as far-fetched as you might think for a guess...

Regarding the OP's question: Is the engine the same 6-speed vs A8....I think the answer is "yes".

M6 does NOT have the AFM valves in the exhaust setup as A8s do. As for the internal stuff, I am sure all the LT1's are the same. Tuning and AFM valves missing from M6 will be different.

So, you cannot "activate" AFM on the M6 by getting a custom tune because you are still missing the hardware for it.

C7 manual AND a8 has AFM.

This is what led me to believe our M6 had it. That and how the car feels and sounds while cruising vs when driving aggressively. My apologies for any misinformation.

He's not asking about the valves in the exhaust system, he's asking about afm lifters in the lt1. Those ARE there on the manual lt1. Since the lt1 is identical between auto and manual, you could turn it on with custom tuning ( if software/ cal allows), but I agree you would not have the exhaust system related valves which are active when afm is active.
