Mylink bypass, video in motion

I want my passenger to be able to change the navigation address and watch video without the parking brake on. Is there any way to do this on the 2016 camaro yet?

Have any if you done this successfully

Gen5diy does them I believe, and I think they retail for $500. I also think you have to send your current infotainment center in to them to get that price. Could be totally wrong.

They dont allow this? My truck can tell when there is weight in the passenger seat, so they can use the navigation, and thats a 2015.

I know you can send an address from your smart phone with the on star app. I'm wondering if anyone has tried to have your passenger do it while the car is moving and see if the system accepts it. Just a thought.

My wife is able to navigate when she is in the passenger seat and I'm driving. It pops up with a warning making sure that she is the one that is going to be using the MyLink for legal purposes

I was able to do this in another touch screen by grounding a wire to metal instead of the parking break. I'm not sure how it'd work if its based on seat pressure though, assuming the same method.

Kinda insane that this wouldn't work with a passenger... seems we have conflicting reports.

On a modded HMI you can do this, have it on a 2015 2500 and it works with out any problums.

So it is 100% CONFIRMED we have to buy aftermarket garbage to make this work in a 40k car?? No insult to the third party pusher, but seriously.

how do you not insult the aftermarket company when you call their reason for existing (the aftermarket products) garbage?

Anyway, it's a safety and liability issue. If they provide a means for playing video that's easily visible to the driver when the driver is actually in traffic and at highway speeds and something happens then lawyers could argue that this completely unecessary feature could have been safely disabled by the OEM and hold them accountable.

You can add that to the list of things Android Auto and friends wont let you do when the car is not in park. Distracted driving is increasingly the cause of accidents and when the person responsible doesn't have money, the lawyers go after anyone who does that they can, and a company providing features that incentivize doing something other than driving is increasingly having to justify those things.
