Some good news...
Not sure if anyone else has figured this out...but the remotes will survive a wash cycle just fine...

yea, most fabs these days (even cheapy garage ones) enclose the circuit board in a rubber seal that will resist water to a number of feet. Dont ask me how I know that a piece of crap garage door opener remote can survive half an hour at the bottom of a hot tub.

Yes, I washed mine a couple of weeks ago. As I was cussing myself and thinking this is going to cost $500 to replace, I walked up to the car and it opened the door. I'd say the engineers that design those have washed their own enough times to think of ways around water damage.

I would still open it and let it dry with the battery removed. They tend to corrode right at the contacts even if they still work. You can also blow some water out with a hair dryer to aid the process. The water can get into microswitches and even membrane keypads (if present).
