This thread is killing me. I created it to get some sort of sway one way or another. Its only made it more difficult. I miss driving a stick and I kept saying I wanted to get back to one. But when I took out the two cars I felt like I could just relax more in the A8. Also, my commute is only 2 miles each way. I doubt I would enjoy the stick as much as I think for a drive like that.

And in the back of my mind, I keep thinking I have my motorcycle if I want to have fun with gears.

I was confused just like you.. I went for the m6.. thinking this might be the last decade of these type of cars and blah blah blah.. I struggled a first few weeks.. got better the next few weeks... but still struggle a little bit. I have driven manuals, but i had lost all my touch in last 5 years... The days I stall .. i definitely wish I had an A8... its not that I regret the m6.. but its just nice not to be emabrassed once in a while :P.. also honest to god.. sometimes my wife does get irritated alot when she sits.. because I am concentrating too much on which gear to be in.. make sure i dont cross 4k.. make sure I am not stalling.. etc etc.. secretly i think she is pissed off just because she cant drive my car since its manual (she knows how to drive it, but just like me has lost practice)

Now the a8 is more relaxing for sure.. esp if ur drive is just 2 miles.. you are not going to have too much fun because lets be real.. ull have stop lights and all.. Mine is a friday and weekend car.. so i enjoy my m6.. even though it gets frustrating at times (its not the cars fault, but mine)... to keep the manuals alive, i ll vote for m6... but.. if you know u are a very good manual driver.. I bet ull have more fun.. that feeling of shifting of gears is just too damn good ...

I am hoping i don't regret going for the manual as I have not heard otherwise and i believe the 1LE will have the tremec 6060 and those have a bit of a reputation

I could care less if autos are "quicker" and better in traffic. I still prefer manual in my sports cars. My first vehicle (72 c-10) had a Muncie 4 and I loved it. Then I had autos in several of my old muscle cars after that and always kinda found them boring to drive and longed for a manual again, but swapping was too much hassle.

I don't make that mistake anymore. My past two cars have had six speed manuals. No regrets.

I agree with others here on the manual. The first few weeks were rough. I started to control the clutch (from a stop to start rolling) with my heel on the floor and it helped me tremendously. I am starting to really enjoy it now and am very happy that I went with the M6.

Having owned Manual and Auto Camaros in the past (last one being a 14 1LE), I can tell you that in my opinion, this A8 takes NOTHING away from the driving experience. It did take some time to feel the shift patterns out and its still adapting to my driving i'm sure but this thing is a BLAST to drive. The shifts are firm and fast and it makes the experience more enjoyable, IMO.

You won't go wrong either way but for me, straight line fast was the plan and the car is a daily driver for the most part. A8 was the logical choice and I haven't regretted it even for one second.

Hope that helps....

All the best,

Jared Royce

Again, thanks for the feedback. It's clearly settled that this car is awesome no matter what transmission is in it.

Ohhhh...there's no question the manual is more engaging and I miss it sometimes. My last car was a 2010 Grand Sport with manual and I thought I would never want another auto even though I was perfectly happy with auto in my first gen5. But, now, when I do a wide open throttle run and hear this thing pop into second, I always thing, "Dang! That's fast!". When I found that the 8A was faster and more fuel efficient as well, it's like, well, having your cake and eating it too! Either way there are pros and cons...enjoy what you got and don't regret it for a minute!

Hello,

Where can you adjust this Vitesse throttle controller ?
I found nothing.

Thank you

Wow this is an old thread back from the dead. For my two cents I had to factory order to get a manual and it was worth every day of waiting so much more enjoyable for me personally to shift my own Gears and be more in touch with the car

I've been driving sticks since '69, and my M6 is the best shifting manual I have ever had. I used to think the Japanese transmissions in my many Datsun/Nissan Z cars were good transmissions, but this one it great. I respect the progress the autos have made and now that I am over 60, was thinking one more muscle car when looking around, I too was considering the automatic. Bad left knee (old soccer injury) and just projecting the next 10 years dealing with that and the eventual knee replacement I keep delaying. But drove the M6 and that was it.

Muscle cars and sports cars of this caliber are just a pleasure to drive, and I suspect I would have also been happy with the auto. But I do love this Tremec transmission and clutch feel on my 2SS.

M6 is nice!! I LOVE STICK, but the A8 is actually more fun. You have to drive one to understand. A8 has competitive mode, performance mode, and TWO options for manual shifting. No regrets period. Best of both world.

I highly doubt it's more fun bro that would be 100% personal preference. I drove the A8 as a test drive car it was cool but it was no manual at least for me
