Dealership paint shops are WELL KNOWN in my area for Poor work. Dirt in paint, Paint Sags, Mottle in Metallics, Sand marks, etc. Then if a problem happens, like the Paint peels etc., because of improper filmbuilds or contamination/etc., they do not want to fix it! Find yourself a Quality Paint Shop, that will stand by their work, and stick to your guns. A GOOD PAINT SHOP WILL BLESS YOU WITH A SHOW CAR PAINT JOB...not a MAACO job! |

Why should the OP agree to a re-paint with no warranty? This line of thinking is insane! What if he gets a re-paint and it's shi**y and starts to bubble or peal next year? He takes it back and the dealer says well you agreed to a re-paint with no warranty so here's a nice middle finger for you! Unreal....

Excellent point. Dealer body shops tend to be a step up from Earl Sheib, who would paint any car for $99.95 (if you never saw his commercials). You can have a pretty good guess as to what kind of paint job you'd get for a hundred bucks, even 20+ years ago. A proper, professional body shop repainting the whole car would remove all the trim, front and rear end clips, probably even the windows and interior door components, do a meticulous job of masking off everything, then sand everything down to remove the clear coat so the primer and paint has a porus surface to adhere to properly. I'm no professional but I've watched enough Chasing Classic Cars with Wayne Carini and other reality car shows on Velocity Network to know that 90% of a great paint job is the time and effort put into prepping the body properly before you put the top coats and clear coats on. A dealer body shop, especially one who is obviously doing it because of this situation, isn't going to be thrilled with doing it for free to begin with so I wouldn't trust their shop to touch my car for anything. To the OP: I know I've adamantly suggested hiring a lawyer so either the dealer or GM or both buy your car back for every penny. But if it's inevitable that a judge doesn't side in your favor, you need to press for having your OWN independent body shop of YOUR choice perform the work, and insist that GM and/or the dealer honor the factory corrosion warranty 100% in full. |

I'm definitely listening to everyone good and bad and trying to absorb this mess, did have a conversation with the Buffalo district manager and giving me a sales pitch on the warranty and how they don't have to cover this and or they know they sell cars that have problems and this can be a normal thing , SOO it's sad we have to be very diligent when we buy cars these days

A re-spray on a new car. That is so wrong. Impacts resale and more importantly owner psyche.
Good luck in finding another solution. |

I am curious, do you have coke-bottle glasses?
Why the heck did you even accept a car with issues you aren't happy with? I know, I know, you were too busy to look it over but you have time to sit on the internet and complain. Sorry for being a deek but...... You should go to the Mustang forum and listen to those girls is you think this is bad. |

I am in the OE Paint business, and had 2 Silver GM cars totally repainted on GM's dime. My GTO is a show winner, my Camaro was sold at Way Over book value because it looked so good! Most OEM paint jobs have serious flaws or defects that most people never see or understand...most only care about shine, and then after a few car washes, the truth is hidden. The OP needs to get it repainted at a qualified shop of his choice. |
