Transmission regret?

Anyone choose one transmission and regret it wishing they got the other after owning the car a while?

I bought mine with a six speed manual after never really driving manual before. I'm not going to lie the first week or so I was pretty frustrated. It really took away from enjoying the car when all you're focused on is not stalling and the car isn't doing what you want it to. However fast forward a month later and I love it. I had a 13 SS with an auto and the manual is much more of an experience. So no regrets, I just wasn't able to enjoy the car for awhile until I knew what I was doing..

Thats some good honest feedback right there.

Once it becomes 2nd nature, and you don't have to think about all things you do to drive a manual, it's loads of fun. Been driving 6spd's for decades. But I've got my '16 2SS with the automatic, maybe 'cause I'm get a bit older but no regrets getting the A8.

M6, this might be the last time, but well worth it, my 4th gen was auto cause I knew I would race it from the get go in the 1/4 mile. I absolutely hated it, even though it was a better 1/4 platform and street fights too. I knew that I would get a manual. The new 10 speed makes it that much harder, must resist.

My 2000 Trans Am Firehawk is an A4. I do not regret it at all. Step on the gas and hold onto the steering wheel.

My 2014 Camaro SS is an M6 and I have no regrets. When my back is bothering me and I can't drive a stick, I have the Hawk to fall back on... except for winter, then I suck it up.

My 2016 Camaro SS will be an M6.

Regardless the cars rock. I have bad knees and a bad back and just suck it up some days.

The 10 speed is the kicker. I have been a dyed-in-the-wool, heel & toe stick driver for most of my life, and the M6 in the 2016 is a great transmission. I recently moved for work—love my job—but now I fight 45 mins of stop & go traffic to go 7 miiles each way, and it sucks the fun right out of the manual. I'm glad I got the manual this time around. I think it would have constantly bugged me if I'd missed-out on that experience… but after seeing how fast the A10 shifted on the ZL1 demo video (especially with paddles), that's the "last straw" in convincing me to switch.

But if the A10 isn't available for the SS then still stick with the M6?

I never have owned a manual car before my '16 v6 m6. I still am not as smooth or as quick as I want to be, but it is a lot of fun!

I think I would enjoy the a8 just as much, they are better for traffic for sure.

Had the TR-6060 in my 5th Gen and it got very old very fast. Especially at the drag races.. Road Course, not so much. It was fine there. It just the OEM clutch giving up being beat to death with the 640-660 crank HP and 620-640 TQ in front of it.

Had the 6L80E in my 2012 Grand Sport and loved it at the drags and was well enough for Road Course based on my frequency of participation and level of mods.

Currently have the 8L90E in the 2016 Camaro SS and I love it thus far. But, I've neither drag raced nor road raced with it. I'm betting I'll love it at the drags, but the jury is out and I'm cautiously optimistic on it for the road course.
