Can anyone record this sound and send it to me? I would love to know if I have the same problem. Mine has no problem on start up but going up to speed it's a squeak or rattle vibration like a bracket is missing and something is rubbing up underneath.

Any chance you have had time to ask your dealer about this yet?
Also, I recorded two short clips of the exact noise my car is making. I found a quiet parking garage so that the audio would come through better. The squeak noise seems rotational when at slow speeds. Also, around 0:17 second mark, you will hear a random squeak/chirp. That happens at any and all speeds occasionally as well. You will also hear some brake squeak coming from my passenger rear towards the end during the rotational squeak too. I don't know if the audio will come through, but I also have one other issue that started at the same time. After a cold start, and when the temp outside is under about 70 degrees, when I make my first hard turn I hear a rubbing sound which you can hear in the first 3 seconds of this video (might be hard to hear with the acceleration noise) and occasionally a thud. There is absolutely nothing physically rubbing in or around my wheel well. I am guessing this is the same issues others are having? I can only guess these issues are due to the rear differential unless someone with more expertise could chime in? Last edited by obarry13; 04-05-2016 at 10:16 AM. |

I'll be taking mine in for this tomorrow morning. In my car it sounds like a rubbing,.. Almost like what a car with a welded axle sounds like when it corners, but not nearly as bad. The dealer looked into it and found the TSB in my case, and said my VIN falls in the affected range.

the chirp at 17 sec sounds like like the V8/V4 noise it makes when it switches. My does this also and the fix is some dri-slide lube the can coat the value with. The rest of the sounds and the sec video is what I was hearing. The dealer tried to flush/refill and add some friction additive but that didn't work. We are also trying to get rid of the vibration rattle that is coming from the NPP since the exhaust is just laying there.

Also kind of good to hear that the squeaking is the same as yours, now I know for sure it is the same issue everyone else here is having. I did remember seeing some people needed to get a completely new rear diff due to wrong gears in it. Last edited by obarry13; 04-05-2016 at 10:26 AM. |

Have you removed your wheels at all? I've heard this sound (or something similar) when the wheel lug nuts are not torqued properly (either over or under, doesn't matter). I don't know what the torque rate is, but to test, I would take your rear wheels off, rotate about 180 (I know you can't do exactly 180, but at least 2 or 3 lugs worth, not just one), remount and re-torque the lug nuts to their proper torque (should be in the manual). Just to eliminate the possibility of it just being the wheels weren't mounted correctly or properly checked during PDA. --kC |

I hope they hand torque them and not impact to put them back on. (Just a pet peeve of mine). Tell them you're trying to diagnose something and would like them done by hand (and many times they say they have torque sticks, don't buy that for one second - insist on hand.)

So my dealer said that it's normal for a Camaro to make these noises every morning and it's due to the fact that this car uses a high performance rear end. Every morning the clutches need to be soaked in oil before they start operating smoothly, and that this will get better as the car breaks in.
My car does only have 2,600 miles on it. I'll give it a few oil changes and see if it goes away. Whiskey |
