V6 GM Perf exhaust install thread (pics)

This will be a multi post thread.

So today I received them from Cultrag (thx Patrick) I put on 2 coats of bbq satin black paint just to protect and look better ......install with pics tomorrow at my local muffler shop.

Some nuggets from the install instructions:

1. It is a Borla product
2. The std big muffler must be cut out but then install is just hang and clamp in place. No more than an hour install
3. The SS exhaust contains an ANC upgrade for the Bose system, the V6 does not.
4. The tips are 4.25 inches diameter.

Stay tuned more info

can't wait to see more, I didn't get the NPP exhaust (stupidly) so I'm really hoping this product is nice and sounds good on the V6.

So here's the details, mounted at 8 am this morning, was rolling back out of the shop at 8:31 am!

I won't keep you waiting for my 1st impression: they are very quiet. I have owned a 13SS and the C7 NPP Vette so I knew not to expect V8 growl, but these are still very quiet. Not even worth attaching a wav file, at startup they are nearly identical to stock, but do have a nice additional growl when you step on it. Absolutely no drone at interstate speed. I'm satisfied but might go back and drop the resonator later on to add more voice to the system. For the $900 or so I would say most enthusiasts won't be satisfied with this GM system.

They do look nicer (bigger) than the stock setup due to thinner wall and clean depth of tip:

But if you do get them, or want any exhaust work done in S Fla, I highly recommend Mad Hatter Mufflers in Pompano Beach, Steve does great work, let's you watch, and explains everything. This is the 3rd car he's done for me....

I'll report back after I put some miles on it...

Update: see my post 15 below.....

Depends on the packing material used. I had a Hooker muffler about 15 years ago and a few hundred miles on it added a noticeable amount of volume. Same with a Magnaflow muffler I had 6 years ago.

Excellent, thx....both steve and I were shocked when we did the first startup. He also has mounted this borla before, on the small caddies and got more growl....

Does the V6 has secondary cats that can be removed like the C7 and SS?

The 2010 - 2015 V6s had secondary cats that were after the 02 sensor and could be removed without throwing a CEL. I'm going to assume this V6 has them as well, but unsure if it would cause a CEL or not if they "accidentally" fell off lol.

It added noticeable sound when it was done.

incredibly disappointed by the review :(, I was hoping for an OEM aggressive sounding option. I should have went with the upgraded exhaust, I just don't like the look so much of the quad tailpipe.
