Im looking to lease a 2SS and the way Ive priced it out comes to around $52k. Would it be feasible to assume I can be somewhere in the 5's with nothing down on a 36/10 lease?

Unless you get a sizeable discount off MSRP or go to 48 months, you are looking at mid 600s from the MF and RV values I've seen.

Remember guys, money down on a lease is a bad idea. It's fine if nothing ever happens to the car, but in an accident that money is gone. So if you do come out of pocket, make sure you can eat that loss if some jerk totals it for you in the first year.

This is not necessarily true. The only thing you lose is taxes and fees. Because gap is included on every lease, you get all the money back between what is valued and what is owed. But I do agree, if you dont need to put anything down its better to negotiate that way.

Regarding the MF and RV, what are they if you know? Not looking to go 48, I might as well finance at that point. If anything, Id probably be out of the car before the end of the 36 months anyway.

On a two year it was 71% RV but it dropped to 59% on the three year.

GAP is to prevent you from owing more to pay off the lease than the value. That is not the same. Money down is a CAP cost reduction. This is why GAP is pretty included in every lease whereas you have to ask for it when financing. If you go to lease a new car, you will have to come out of pocket for a new down payment. You will not be giving a check from your insurance for more than the payoff of a lease. In most cases, taking your down payment and keeping it in a high interest savings accounts is a better financial decision. In some cases you even make more money than you save in payments a month.

I use this Edmunds forum for an idea of base MF/RV. I believe you can still negotiate for better, just how much no one can say.

Sweet, thanks for the link. This car leases decently well actually.

It's definitely not a bad car to lease, but not the best either at this point. Definitely better than Mustang leases.

1SS, Manual, only option was Exhaust
Base MSRP $36,300.00
MSRP as Configured $38,190.00
GM Employee Discount Price $35,430.95
You Pay $35,430.95

Lease Loyalty $500
GM Card $200
"Cash Down" $3000

24 month/10k per year miles
$340/month then $305/month after negotiations.

The $3000 does change it quite a bit, so my situation is a little different being a GM Employee, but you should be able to do the math.
Where did you get that quote? The lowest I can get quoted on is 299/mo with 7000 down including the fees, transfer etc, only options were automatic and exhaust...
This is a for a 48mo/10k year. Does going up to 48/mo really add that much to the price?

Going to a longer term decreases the payment, but the RV goes down. He had $3700 in CAP cost reduction, in addition to his employee price.

Bowman Chevrolet. Like I said i do have employee pricing and "3000 down". Im looking more towards a 2SS now and best i have found has been in the $390's.

A site that has been quite accurate for me was www.leasehackr.com , they have a calculator on there.

EDIT: Also when putting "money down" you have to remember a 24 month will show a much nicer payment, because it only has to drop 24 payments.

I have the employee pricing also, and I was looking to put about 7000 down, but that makes sense seeing as I am looking into double the term you are. I really appreciate the thoughts on this from you and SuperSound.

Please do some research on putting money down on leases. Most people don't understand it does not work like money down on loan. Best of luck!

Since he is an employee, his situation may be similar to mine. Where depending on your position at GM you are eligible to receive up at $3,000 Employee Appreciation Certificate towards a lease or purchase. It's kind of like a rebate, or a check directly from GM to the dealership.

As long as it's not out of pocket money, then the more the merrier (or should I say cheaper lol)!
