Surprised thar aftermarket audio equipment companies wouldnt see car manufacturers implementing a proprietary non-upgradable system as a threat to their industry and do something about it.
Every car interior is different. Every manufacturer sets their expectations, and it's approved by them. If you'd like to hear our best, take a ride over to your local Caddy dealer and listen to a CT6 with the Panaray System.

Car manufacturers have legit reasons for going to these buses. Weight reduction, diagnostics, improved reliability. I know that doesn't make you feel any better, but it's not our decision.

In my opinion it is just the opposite. I have a Bose surround sound system in the living room and a Definitive Technology (speakers)/Yamaha (receiver) surround sound system in the man cave. The Definitive system puts the Bose to shame. Also, I have tested some of the new Bose wireless speakers and find that even the smaller Sonos speakers sound much better. This is the third Bose car system I've had and have been happy with them all. As I said, JMHO.

The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.

I found a company in Australia that makes MOST adapters...but only for European cars..ie BMW,Porsche,Mini,etc...I emailed them if they were planning on expanding in to the American market. Their reply back was understandable...because they do not have easy access to the American models in order to reverse engineer, they have no plans to expand in to the American market. I do not think their adapters are cheap but at least it promising that the MOST system can be reverse engineered to supply line level...Now to find a company willing to tackle the American branded cars....

Those are fiber optic based systems and are usually right off the head unit. Totally different setup in those.

Yes, most of the the European systems are fiber, 25Mbit/s systems. BMW and some Audi have the 150Mbit/s. The GM system is 50Mbit/s twisted pair Both systems connect in a ring configuration ( one pipe in, one pipe out).

Like I said before, for an aftermarket company to take this on, it will take significant cash investment. The automotive companies get a little fussy about anybody "hacking" any of their software these days. Not to mention FMVSS (Ford Motor Vehiicle Safety Specification) requirements. A company that makes already makes aftermarket and OEM for GM, would be ideal to make an adapter.

Your pain is felt, I'm just not sure what can be done about it. Automotive software is a very sensitive issue.
