Andriod Auto and Ipod connection.
My new SS has the Android Auto update and I have it installed and set up on the phone, although I have not seen the icon yet. I guess I have to start the car first. Besides NAV (which I have) what else is useful with AA?
For music I have a couple of Ipods. But I also have problems. It seems to randomly recognize the Ipods. One is a 4th gen and one a 7th gen. If i do a combination of rebooting the Ipod, restarting the car, unplugging the cable I can some times can get either Ipod to work. Most of the time not. And when I restart the car, not. Is there a trick here? I am also intereted in just using a flash drive, but can you also play audio books? And would the car remember where you were in the book? I see a thread for this and I will look it over. I am a software engineer by trade and could write a PC app that could let you arrange your music and build playlists on a usb drive from Itunes or just a set of folders. Does this already exist?

To me, AA really only good uses are Maps and Search. From what I've read, the texting features of myLink are really just as good if not better than AA. The Music player looks to be fine, but I use an iPod Touch for my large library. I bet some of the audio book compatible apps will work with AA. They don't see to be restrictive when it comes to approving audio apps for use.
As for the iPod connection issues, even my iDrive system has problems every so often requiring a disconnect, reboot, and restart of the car. But it happens once maybe every 2 or 3 months.
