I never heard of that, I learned something new today

That's cool that it'll be an option. The idea of it being installed at the dealership and not at the factory makes me not want them as much lol. Maybe not the knee pads so much, but the disco fever lights would make me a bit uneasy.

The more I check out Camaros and sit in them, the more I wish the 1LE just came with a 2SS. I don't quite understand why they didn't make that available. I know it's supposed to be a dedicated track car but like others have said, why not just make it available for those that want it?

Either way, can't wait to see it in person at the NY Auto Show. I'm gonna do my best to see the interior as close as I can. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and get a 2SS now.

What does the 2SS have that you want so bad? Personally I prefer the suede/leather Recaros to the regular leather seats. I do want to get the LPO suede knee pads to replace the plastic ones...plus remember that unlike a normal 1SS, the 1LE has HUD too...

If you want the disco lighting, that is a LPO option too...

I like the super soft leather right below the window that the 1ss doesn't have. The lighted door sills look great, IMO. I wouldn't mind one that isn't lit up, maybe color, brushed aluminum or something, but the cheap black plastic mold just makes it look cheap. The red interior is also nice, but that's not that big of a deal.

The knee pads I wouldn't mind getting as an LPO option but for a dealer to install the disco lighting makes me a bit uneasy. Do they have to pop out the screen, take thd doors apart and run wiring?

I gotta see it in person to make a better evaluation of it.

How many times must it be revisited by different people...before you accept that there is a population of performance car enthusiasts who also want their gizmos?

Here is a full list of 2SS features that the 1SS (1LE-equipped, specifically), does not have.
  • Rear-Park Assist sensors
  • 7-speaker Bose Stereo
  • Heated outside mirrors
  • Heated & Ventilated Front seats
  • Heating Steering wheel
  • Wireless charging station
  • Universal Home Remote
  • Memory Seats
  • Illuminated Sill Plates
  • Interior Spectrum Lighting
  • Inside auto-dimming rearview mirror
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Aluminum interior trim
  • Leather-appointed door trim
  • Leather-appointed knee pads
  • Available Navigation
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Side Blind-zone alert

You can put a lot of that on the car with LPOs or aftermarket accessories...but not all of it.

Thank you. Can we please stop with the holier than thou crap for people (like myself and many others) that want gizmos in their 1LE. It's pretty obvious that a lot of people wish this was available on the 2SS

This is only a wild guess... but maybe such a car will cannibalize ATS-V sales. The 2SS is already close enough that many people will be swayed - add the e-diff, better wheel/tire package, Recaros, chassis tuning on top of that and the expensive ATS-V seems rather pointless. Especially considering they didn't go with the LT1

There is no nav available on the 1LE?

On that list, all I would want is

-Rear park assist sensors
-Illuminated sill plates
-Interior Spectrum lighting
-Aluminium interior trim
-*Leather appointed door trim*
-Leather appointed knee pads
-*Navigation****
-Side blind zone alert
-Rear cross traffic alert

If there's no nav available, then I'll probably go with a 2SS and eventually add 1LE wheels/tires and maybe spoiler. Exterior styling, 1LE wins hands down, I think it looks MUCH better. But with all the lacking interior goodies, I feel like it'll make it more "meh" on the street, especially on a road trip. And I plan to take the car on a few.

Yes.. MrWhynham was spot on!

2SS def is my hands down pick, he forgot to mention A8! But Chevy made gen6's for everyone... 1LE is NOT the better car! Neither is the 2SS.

What type of technologies will be able to be hacked out of the car, I know the gen5 was capable of having customized information display in the DIC. Any chance all the info is programmed in the car and just needs to be turned on? Would you be able to install parking sensors and then edit tech software to activate them? Other hard parts are easy to add later.

The parking sensors would be my must have, Nav and dual climate zones would be next in line.

NAV is an option with the PDR (which is not available on the SS)...

Personally, I feel GM did it right. The SS 1LE is suppose to be a track focused car. They gave it what it needs in my opinion and more. Recaros, HUD, suede, leather, and made many other items LPO. I get some will buy this car and never use it as intended (pity), but a car like this does not need heated seats, blind spot monitoring, Bose, disco lights, etc. All that does is add weight and complexity to a car that is not suppose to have that. People who want all that should look into a 2SS, and maybe buy some SS 1LE items when available. Heck, when I spoke to a Camaro engineer at the Chevrolet Performace exibit at Mecum, he specifically told me that this car is a niche car for a specific group.

Just my opinion on some things, don't some of you get all pissy.

I think they did a fantastic job as well. I just wish a 2SS was available for those that want it and the 1LE performance upgrades like the e-diff, coolers, brakes etc. Maybe some want all the gizmos for cruising but also like to take their cruiser to the track and may desire the more capable 1LE bits. If people are willing to pay, I can't imagine why not.

If there will be no 1LE 2SS, I guess a 2SS would probably be more appropriate for what I'll be using the car for, mostly. I'll just have to get the wheels separately. Unfortunately I won't be able to add things like the e-diff.

This version of the 1LE will be easier to recreate from a standard SS. The 5th gen had extra fuel pick ups, different trans gearing, 3.91 axle, extra cooling and some other components which weren't worth installing for most people because cost outweighed the results. This new SS has all the cooling, same trans and rear axle so it will be easier to matchup performance by installing them on trot your SS.

Actually, this brings up a good point... because the 1LE had to add that stuff (and more), and they still only offered it for $3500. Now, much of that is standard from the SS, so, that could conceivably keep the costs lower than what some are predicting.
