With a stock setup i wouldn't expect to see any performance gains. Now, I have a CAI, ported throttle body and msd intake manifold. I'm also looking to put headers on. At some point this section would almost have to become a bottle neck if you have everything else upgraded to pull air in and push exhaust gases out or at least one would think and I am looking into replacing this section because of that reason.
Ground clearance wouldn't change as it was the top of the pipes that were crushed. And every exhaust manufacturer that has worked on this car has said there is no clearance issue there using full size tubing. So as far as I can tell, it was only done for sound purposes

Ground clearance is the same. I noticed a difference at all throttle ranges.

Its really hard to tell a difference unless you put the camera in the same place. warm the car up to running temps each time and show the rpms on each. I personally think its placebo as well.

For the ease and minimal cost, seems like a great little mod.

This must be a placebo also. Since its not crushed it can't flow any better.

Don't worry about it man, these are the same guys who will claim an aftermarket intake or filter isn't worth any gains, nor removing the secondary cats.

My opinion: Every little bit helps, and a few small gains equal an impressive increase

Calm down there brosef. No ones calling you a liar. Maybe it does give you 1000 more hp and sound better. I don't know. Just saying I cant hear a difference in the video and that it may be in your head. Not sure if you know this but the placebo effect is a real thing.

I'm just not one to believe without proof.

you know what is intresting, the hooker axle back that eliminates the crush bend is stating +15HP, while the flowmaster axle back that keeps the crush bend is stating ZERO HP gain. IMO, I don't think the crush is an issue. Hooker can be ordered with midpipes either stock or to fit their headers that completely eliminated the crush.

That crushed area is so far back the exhaust gases have cooled significantly. It just isn't going to make a difference on a mildly modded engine. Take a look at the pipes going from the manifolds to the primary cats. Beauties they ain't.

yep already did back of napkin calc on another thread using the gas law and came out with the same conclusion it is the 2.25 front cats that are by far the biggest restriction.
