I ordered mine Dec. 1st 2015. Got the postcard yesterday to pick them up. Made an appointment for the 4th of April to change the plates.

Jeeze. Surprised you're willing to wait. I went the day that I received the notification in the mail and picked them up. I did take 45 min though.

I went the next day after i got my notice! Got in and out of the DMV withen 25 minutes I was shocked

Question for you guys.. just ordered mine.. was told it will take anywhere from 2-3 months..

I got a noticed from the dealer that the plates will be arriving in a few days, had the car for a week 1/2. You think when I get the plates and registration, if I don't put it on the car the cops will cite me? I'll of course leave the temp registration on the windshield.

When they run the vin, it'll show registration under my name however. I know in Cali, you have like 60-90 days to have your plates after a purchase.

Any pics of your car? My SS is red, curious to see how legacy plates will look on a red car.

That is the normal white ones. The dealer automatically orders them at the time of purchase. I ordered my late Feb and still waiting for notice from the DMV to go drop off my old ones and pick up my new ones.

Yeah I got you.. my question is, will the cops give me crap if I don't put the white ones on and just the temp registration on the window for identification?

I'm sure my Vin will show my registration.

If they run the VIN they can see if it's valid. For example it will show "valid 5/14/16 - 5/14/17" and the registered owners name among other things.

I'm sure most people know the regular plates take a little while so if you are ordering the black plates right away I'm sure you can get away with it a while. If you get pulled over I think it comes down to what you did to get pulled, the cop and how anal/bored they are in your city lol. I don't think you'll get pulled over just for that in my opinion. The CA DMV site says:

I plan to get these plates on my Red Hot too. The black with yellow are more complimentary colors versus the standard white with blue.
