I doubt it---there is not supposed to be much part interchangeability between the two chassis.

Are there any Mods that can safely increase the redline, or does that mean swapping out the entire rotating assembly? All I'm saying is with a minimal hp bump and the ability to rev out to 7250, this thing would be beast mode.

So after reading the review of Mustang vs Camaro H2H in the other thread thats going around... I noticed the article said that the Mustang is more of a happy cruiser on freeways than the Camaro... But...but ...but... according to the charts above... the SS has a taller transmission gearing than the GT... then shouldnt the SS be more of a cruiser... At least thats what I thought... taller gearing = more of a cruiser...

Then either that graph is wrong or you short shifted cause no stock 5th gen is trapping 112mph.

Did a test drive of a GT Performance Package with 3.73's. 1st and 2nd gears were way too short for ''just driving''. Then I drove a non PP Mustang manual with 3.31 gears and it was about right, but could still take off from a stop easily in 2nd....just for comparison here.

I'm going to have to drive it for a while in different situations, but gears don't seem that bad... A little tall, but when you look at the lighter weight and the increased midrange of this engine vs last gen... I think it is going to be fine. Any shorter and you would be constantly skip shifting. For those that want to add power, there will be no need to worry about running out of gear. 5th gear goes to 193m.p.h. Who would ever need more than that? Not me.

Those complain about the gears being to short should just skip a few during normal driving. When I went from 3.42's to 4.11's it allowed me to go 1st>3rd>5th or 6th depending on speed limit. Hell before the swap 6th was useless around town but with the new gears I could be in 6th at 40mph just puttin around town.

The only time you will regret the gears is from a dig or when cammed. I have the night fury cam in my 15 1LE and i wish I had the regular ss gearing instead of the taller first gear and I have to be at least at 70 mph in 6th due to bucking. Most people running this cam in an ss have a little better time in 6th. I think they are going to taller gears to have less stress on the rearend and axles. May be also good for a track or road course and pretty good gearing for roll racing. My car in 3rd from 50 will run neck and neck with a 13 gt500 up to 120, Maybe faster ran out of room

So how much torque handling for the M6?
It looks like somewhere in between 500 lb-ft (B) to 560 lb-ft (C). For reference gen 5 ZL1/Z28 used option C (560 lb-ft) I believe. The 2016 SS M6 has slightly different ratio than published options. 2017 ZL1 most likely will use option E/F just like ZR1 and Viper. |

I have the M6 and to me the gears are completely mismatched for a street machine, 1st gear take a long time coming at 54 MPH, and engine is off the power band through the 1/4 mile at 5200 rpm or so. I'm for 4.10 which would put me at 5800 thru the traps and help the launch by working though the slight bog / slip the clutch. Right now the car is easy to launch but it is really a looooong pull to 54 mph in first. 4.10 would get me just shy of 50 MPH.

Old thread...but man was this guy was way off. He predicted the upcoming 2016 Camaro SS to run 12.8 in the 1/4 due to the 2.77:1 axle ratio in the automatic.
