If your dealership is among the majority ...then yes. 3 hours give or take 15 min.

Pretty sure it's not like they're working on your car for 3 hours. I think it's mostly just sitting there and nobody is doing anything to it...and some tech will check on it every half hour for each step as they do something else.

Ok my situation was simple. I made it over complicated. My S4 automatically switched from charging mode to MTP mode. So it did not dawn on me to switch this. As soon as I did last night my Android Auto worked the same way the S4 works. lol

Duh Moments!

My dealer was done in 45 min, also, make sure you have android auto installed on your phone, otherwise it's not working.

When you connect the usb pull down your menu options. Make sure the USB is designated to Transferring Media Files. I did not realize I needed to switch this every time I use Android Auto. Seems like my other phone had an auto connect or was always just on that mode to work.

Can someone take a picture of where it says Android auto in settings? I need to show me dealer that something isn't right. My software version is apparently correct but I see no mention of Android auto in settings and none of my phones work

It will not say the words Android Auto in the FW version or in settings. The only time it will display those words is when the phone is connected and the Projection icon will change and display AA when working correctly.

Someone told me if you click settings on the car, there is an Android auto page near the Apple carplay page. Yours doesn't have that?

I've tried this on two two phones. I've also tried USB debugging on and off. I've also tried having Bluetooth connected and disconnected.

android auto forces bluetooth on regardless of your phone's settings. Even if you're in airplane mode. Android Auto requires bluetooth and will override and turn it on and pair.

one of two things is true, assuming that you pressed the projection icon when plugged in.

1. Your cable is crap (or the connection the cable is making in the usb port is crap)
2. You dont have android auto firmware.

It has to be #2 but the firmware version I have is 84089010 which people are saying is correct. So something had to have gone wrong somewhere during the update. I'm using the factory Motorola cable with my N6 and an iOrange USB A-C cable with my n6p. I've tried both ports in the center console. Frustrating!

Take the car to your local cellular store and have them try a new phone on it (and cable). Something has to be up.

does a thumb drive show up correctly for music file playback when plugged into the port you are using?
just to rule out the cable the car is using being the cause for why a data connection isn't made.
