You don't want the 7 speed manual. The gates are very narrow, and the C7 guys aren't the biggest fans of it...the 6 speed manual is the better choice.

I think the 1LE will use the standard SS's transmission, which uses the same ratios as last generation's 1LE/ZL1.

They did not release any details about this new M6, besides the fact that it only has 1 overdrive gear. This is interesting, because the other M6 has two, and Corvette's M7 has 3!!

I've always thought that too but I'm thinking in the ZL1 it would be a good tranny to have because of the 5th gear 1:1 ratio that the ZL1 has instead of 4th like most trannys including the TR6070 7 speed in the Vette. It would be nice if the ZL1 had the 5th gear 1:1 and then 2 OD gears like the TR6060 has. I'm afraid that the ratios in the ZL1 TR6060 will be either too wide between 5th and 6th or be too narrow and offer poor highway gas mileage and higher rpm's. I understand the 7 speed physically can't fit in the tunnel, but it would be pretty cool to have a TR6070 with 2OD gears instead of 3.

I like the fact that it has 5 "regular" gears. 6th SHOULD be overdrive. 5th gear in my GTO was useless. I never used it. Either 4th or 6th.

The ratios in the 5th-gen 1LE / ZL1 are spaced out really nice. I use fifth all the time...especially when driving around 45mph.

On the track....very rarely did I push it into 5th.

Depending on the gearing...that would be an amazing catastrophe with the A10

With A8 transmissions you don't need more than 3.07 gears to pull like a lunatic, depending on the gearing ratios in the A10 you might not need more than 2.66's!

They would be interesting (and potentially obnoxious)....first gear in the A8 is 4.56:1....using 2.77s in the back, top speed is 44mph. Assuming they keep the same first gear (I think it's even shorter in the A10), 3.91s would drop that top speed to 31mph.

I went back and on the manual no GG tax showed up but when I did a automatic it added the $1300 GG tax.

The 16 SS A 8 does not have a GG tax.
