Looks killer, not entirely sure I like the wheels that well, but it's a very nice car. Now if it can maintain the $17-18K premium over the 2SS like the 5th Gen ZL1 held over the Gen5 2SS, that would put it pretty close to $60K MSRP. Of course that's a big if and even if it did, a $60K ain't cheap but it makes me wonder who would buy a standard Corvette when they can buy a ZL1??

I plan on a Camaro, but probably "just" an SS as I'm not so sure that, for me, the extra coin is worthwhile considering it's going to cost pretty close to, if not over, 50% more than an SS.

wow ! great news !
For me best of all is the available performance data recorder from the C7 now in this ZL1 !
Perhaps Ford has to counter now with the same 10speed auto and a GT500 ? :-)
in great times we live, unfortunately all your cars arrive a year later in europe ....thatīs bad and sometimes to late ...

I love it, I don't particularly care for the wheels, I think the 1LE got much better wheels but the car is awesome! It really cleans up some of the lines IMO. Also I think the GM splitter that all the SS are getting is meh, I would try and get this front end on my SS if I had a 16. ZL1 conversions will be very very popular Im sure.

We truly live in a great era right now. Like Kracka said to me, "It's like the 1960's all over again, era of the muscle cars! And this time not just brute power with crappy everything else but with power + braking + handling + comfort + technology".

Dodge hasn't gotten that memo yet and sadly, it is too late. More people will be buying the ZL1 and the next Camaro more than the hellcats (I got 3 confirmed cases of cancelling hellcat orders for the ZL1 already). I would agree that the hellcat is great for marketing purposes but it's all brute power and it can't even put down that power! Ford is more of a direct competitor and camaro let alone C7s has taken Ford back to the drawing board just to keep up.

I for one am looking forward to seeing the ZL1 in person and learning more about it. The initial release of it sure did answer a lot of questions we have but still left a lot more up in the air, which is quite normal! We will have to be patient and learn everything else in time. We are still learning stuff for the SS and LT... And it's been 5 months since deliveries started happening!

Maybe it's time for me to pick up a pen and start writing again, so I can start having access to stuff like this sooner lol. Feeding my own curiosity would be enough for me to abide by the NDA

I see the ZL1 being my monster in the garage and the SS as my road trip / extremely special vehicle. Looking so forward to all the info that'll be coming up! And let us not forget, the Chevy thunderstorm isn't over. This was just a massive thunder strike. 3/25/16. We shall see what will happen that day

John - what are your thoughts on Camaro not being AWD with DCT?
lol who's that guy?
ANyway, I'm glad that camaro does not offer awd even as an option. DCT? They are good, but I dont care about them. I like manuals.
Just put the full led headlights. Don't get me wrong, but the led would make a big difference. They give an expensive looks.

All I know is I hope that GM is smart enough to have a NHRA official around in case this thing rips off a 11.1 or less 1/4 time. It would be great marketing like Dodge did.

While I seriously dislike the SS wing, this one works better. I think the angles and the fact that it hangs wider over the edges helps it fit with the design and the rear looks badass. I still prefer blade/dovetail style...

Thumbs up

Awesome info, thanks!

GM really knocked it out of the park with this one! That 10 speed shifts like a proper DCT... I would totally go for that box in the ZL1.

Those heated/ventilated Recaros I'm putting them into my 2SS as soon as they release a pair without red stitching!

As for the z06.. Yes, it slow for a supercar on high speeds.Even with the stage 0 it makes a lof of downforce, which kills the speed.

Even a 4 -door cts v is faster than that failure....
Dude, what are you talking about..? You either get downforce and grip or low drag, that's how it works. They would have had to engineer a full active aero package, like on $2,000,000.00 hypercars, to achieve what you're asking. In case it's not clear, those TWO MILLION DOLLAR hypercars are that expensive because of those engineering endeavours. The only two issues with the current Z06 are cooling in extreme track situations and that it's really a successor to the ZR1 (and should have been called that). It's a phenomenal car otherwise.

The early Z06's were having overheating and limp mode situations in ALL track conditions, not just "extreme".

They've not repeated the same blunder on the ZL1

I know they have cooling issues, but I honestly don't have any data on how bad those issues are. The Vette just doesn't have enough front air intake area to support such a hot supercharged engine Both the CTS-V and this ZL1 have more than enough intake area to cool everything down, that's why they work. Looks like it was true when they (forget if this was GM or reviewers) said that the current Vette architecture was maximized with the C6 Z06/ZR1 models.

It just hit me how much this car will likely go for in Canada, especially since our dollar went down like a Kardashian these past few months. This car may have already priced itself out of my garage, dammit (and that's before any potential ADM)!
