Pretty sure they will be no "ZL1" in 2017. 2018 is when they will reveal it. 2016 for gen6s 2.0T, v6, SS, 2017 v6 and v8 1LEs, 2018 is when the heavy hitter(s) will come. Which is good for me, I may order one 12 minutes in order banks being opened haha. 2018 might be a little soon but doable. The reason I got my 2SS is because no way in hell I was ready to wait another year or two. But due to the history of the car, I will be keeping it for sure instead of selling like I planned to for the "ZL1".

![]() The appropriate post is something like - "after they reveal the ZL1 on March 25 2016, I suspect you will be able to place an order around...." And also, I'm not sure why they would wait that long to reveal a car that is so far into development. We saw the ZL1 at Nurburgring in September of 2015. If they don't reveal it until next year we are looking at 2 years of teasers before people have one in their garage. I just don't see that happening. We will get one in MY 2017. And for comparison, the Z06 first spy shots were August 2013 and it was revealed in Detroit January 2014. First car reached auction April 14, 2014. ok, deliveries were December 2014. I'm fine with taking delivery late 2016 or very early 2017, but no way I can wait for 2018, my midlife crisis may be over by then.

My logic behind what I said about release dates is for marketing as well as supply purposes. V6 and SS got released first, then verts and now 2.0T's so they all have their "thunder" time, next year will be the 1LEs, gives the models to have some standalone time at dealerships or people's garages, then they will release the heavy hitting just as the camaro gen6 brand is calming down to release a massive hurricane! That's what my marketing brain would do. Plus builds up more anticipation and passion. Trust me, I would LOOOOOOVE to see and hear everything about the "ZL1". For what we know currently, it's another camouflages gen6 camaro. Don't know the name, don't know the engine, don't know jack about it. All we can do is speculate and maybe hear things through the grapevine. Trust me, I did ask AO and Tom Peters if there will be other heavy hitters like LT4 in a gen6 camaro. They both changed their attitude and said cannot comment BUT the future is VERY bright back in November, so you know the secrets are being kept very well. He also noted that when they are talking about the upcoming stuff, they just code name everything about the new model so no one will pick it up which I found extremely smart. I believe they called the ZL1 - X1 before public release haha. I love my 2SS, personally... the longer ZL1 release takes the better for me but bad for the people who decided to wait for it lol. I couldn't, no way! I really am looking forward to real concrete info about the next gen6 though! |

I don't think you will be able to order it that soon.
Late 2016 is what they've said. I'm sure we'll get more detailed information over spring and summer. |

If you go to the upcoming section of the Chevrolet website on a mobile phone, it shows the available dates. This was changed from late 2016 to mid 2016 last week for the ZL1.
It's only visible on the mobile site, not the normal full website. |

Historically speaking the retooling for GM is in August I believe. That's when they shut down for a bit. Oppenheimer also said they have a whole summer of testing. I know the mobile site says mid 2016 and we all know that nothing on the Internet is ever false so with that in mind the safe bet is still winter of 2016. I would imagine ordering will be available by mid to late summer and cars may appear as early as November just in time for temperatures to drop below 40 when the tires lose grip. The local dealer here said training for them starts next week do they may have something more to say after that assuming there's anything about the zl1. At this point I'm rolling my pennies in anticipation of the price gouging to come. Ugh.

Both ZL1 and 1LE will be 2017 models for 50th Anniversary year. Z28 will most likely be a 2018 model
