So after a little more time to process this a few thoughts:
1. Thanks to the Camaro team for debuting this to the enthusiasts. Pretty awesome that we have someone one the inside to participate and bring us this info first hand. 2. Thanks to Mr Wyndham for the wonderful write up. 3. Lets try to be civil. I don't understand why people have to trash other peoples cars. Particularly when someone is paying the ZL1 a compliment. I just don't get it. P.S. Mr Wyndham our PM exchange takes on a whole new meaning now. You already knew you sneaky SOB. Well played. You gave me no indication you knew something was up.

The steering wheel says ZL 1 if you use your imagination
Don't forget Mark Stielow Chevy engineer and a Pro touring champ and loves 69 camaros. He worked on the last Z/28.

Those wheels are 10 times better than previous Gen ZL1 wheels. I liked them, but these are just...WOW.
The calipers say ZL1

Its funny, I don't see anyone saying don't buy the first model year or quips about quality holds.

I'm ridiculously excited about the new ZL1! I can't focus at work...Good job Camaro Team! I *really* hope they took care of the overheating issues from the LT4...that was making me nervous to get the ZL1. I guess only time will tell. Awesome write-up Mr. Wyndham! Now to get the true HP numbers and tech specs

15.35" rotors on this one vs. 14.6" on the 1LE. That is MASSIVE. Larger than the wheels on most of my 80's cars. LOL. I assume it's for the additional nose weight but I wonder if the calipers are the same. If I put the two photos of the wheels/calipers of the 2 next to each other it's hard to tell but I think they are the same. It would be cool if you could just swap rotors and caliper brackets and throw a set of those on the 1LE.

These two cars (one auto, and one manual) were running laps around the track for almost 2 hours straight. The rotors were glowing red, the cooling fans were screaming...and they just kept up lapping, without any argument.

I would hope to should that after the boondoggle that was the Z06 launch and overheating/limp mode issues that GM would have taken the steps to prevent that.
And guess what? the Camaro was waaaay overbuilt for the SS...but it's now clear it was built this way to support the ZL1. |
