Dome Light

Night time and I took my kids in my camaro and we couldn't buckle the seat belts in the rear seats because there is no illumination back there.

Funny with all the fancy LED everywhere it's pitch black in the back. The one above the rear view mirror I think is also LED but it only shoots down.

Wondering if it's because I have the sunroof option. Do the camaro's without sunroof have an extra dome light in the back?

The back seat is there for cheaper insurance and not really to be used, hence it is so small. But it is there so we can use it. I just have to wait for my kids to get a little older because neither of my car seats fit back their right now. I do wish it was a little bit bigger personally but it is what it is and I love the car and no complaints.

Have you actually tried car seats in the back? There has been threads showing car seats the back.

You can't even fit car seats for toddlers back there? Chevy has really screwed this one up. Unbelievable.

Too bad there isn't any headroom back there.

I'm not happy with the lack of a rear dome light. Even without the moonroof they don't have one.

Should have put just a small cheap one right at the back of the roof. What, $10.00 in parts GM?

I have managed to get the car seats that I have in the back but then its good luck getting my 2yr and 7mo old in the seats. Finally with the seats that I have its good luck for me trying to drive the car because i have to have the seat ALL the way forward and it is just too awkward to drive that way. So for now it is mainly just me myself and I only in the car.

I tried looking for something in the back at night and it was impossible but then our phones have "flashlight" abilities, so there is one way around it.

I could see 2 small circle/square nicely finished LED lighting could be added to the back seat sides. Would be a little labor intensive and require cutting the plastic but very very doable.

Yeah you can pretty easily mount a dome light back there with enough ingenuity and bravery. I'll probably do that too if my girl can't get her belt on (thankfully she is 7 years old and a gymnast/ballerina).

The corvette may be more practical than a Camaro, especially when you consider the trunk space.

Not sure if dome light are really about whether we use the back seats, headroom, insurance, trunk space.

It is a very basic almost standard feature that should be included in all cars regardless of make.

GM manual: Back seat use is for daytime use only

To think I was surprised when Toyota took away the front driver dome light switch in my new sienna. I crack the door open turn on the lights now and worse now I have put a small flashlight in my camaro.

How embarrassing. ha

I pity anyone trying to actually use that back seat! I don't think Chevy ever had any intention of anyone actually trying to put a human of any age back there.

I'm afraid if I had kids that needed to fit back there I'd have purchased the Chevy SS. Sweet ride, less money, and a real sleeper!

unless you were forced to buy a camaro, i dont see how during the process of seeing it and testing it and buying it that you didn't realize 100% that the back seats are there for insurance purposes only.

GM/Chevy didn't screw up. They gave you a 2 seater car with 4 seater insurance. You're welcome.
