Love the car, but hands down least reliable car I've ever owned

Hey all,

I've owned 4 Subarus, a Boss 302, and a Wrangler, and I must say within the first 3K miles the SS has the distinct honor of being the least reliable car I've owned. Subarus are bulletproof, amazing vehicles that just keep running with minimal if any issues. My first Ford was a pleasant surprise and I didn't really have any issues except some fluid leak on the track. The wrangler (though supposedly notoriously unreliable) has been great a year plus in.

Sadly, with my 2SS, I've already had it in once for some random code that was affecting the exhaust; and as of yesterday I realized the driver side vented seats stopped working and the "click" sound when signals are in use vary between audible and not.

I absolutely love the car and am driving it as much as possible and it is by far the most fun car I've ever owned and cannot wait to take it on the track, but I am, sadly, a little disappointed with these little points of nuisance.

Hope it settles down soon.

Cheers,
Nawambo

Be happy you are having so few minor issues. Alot of people are having a lot more issues and major ones at that.

Were your other cars all-new models?

There is a reason people avoid buying a first year.

What was the build date of your car? Any early 16 or later in the cycle? Trying to see if maybe things are improving ...

I think maybe you're misusing the word "reliable".
The car is reliable. It starts & stops for you every time, right? It hasn't stranded you, right?

Yours has some quality issues.

You should have titled your thread, "Camaro quality not quite up to snuff".

You are correct. Didn't mean to mislead. It's reliable on the big issues, some of the small frustrations are just off-putting.

I don't recall the build date, mid-November, I believe. Received on NYE eve.

And yes, all my vehicles were bought new, including several in their first year as a new model.

Hate to tell you this, but that is not true, It has noting to do with new models that there are parts of the car with out paint on them, that is more to do with no one looking at the car, there is/was no QC person in the paint department, on top of the rest of the line.

I know I'm opening a can of worms by saying this, but maybe it was a mistake to bring manufacturing back state-side to Lansing. Have other cars built at this plant had as many problems? While bringing the workforce back to America sounds good on paper, the U.S. hasn't been a major manufacturing power for a while now. A lot of this has to do with labor unions and demands for higher pay. Our strength is mainly IT at this point.

When the 5th gen was being manufacturing in Ontario in its first year, it had some problems understandable for a new car, but I don't think it was quite so extreme.

Over 50% of 6th gen owners claim to have taken their car to the shop for serious issues according to some polls, although that data could be skewed on these forums.

Here we go again blaming the union's. You do realize the workers in Canada are Union???? I do blame the workers, and management though. They obviously are not trained properly, along with not giving a $hit. Things need to be tightened up at that plant.

Growing pains of any new entirely brand new model... The first ~6 months of C7 production were buggy too. The same can be said when being an early adopter of any new technology. Between warranty repair, recalls, and TSB's, everything will get taken care of

I agree. I monitored the Gen5 site in 2010 for issues, they had no where near the issues of this car. Some of the issues I am seeing seem to point to absolute no QC. That's a from the Top Down issue. Someone at the top is dropping the ball that seriously needs to be addressed. I hope they didn't think that people would just slobber all over the Camaro a buy it just because it looked and performed cool. It don't work like dat. Actually...every time I hear about a new complaint I get a little pissed off because I want one but hate the fact of what I am hearing with all the issues that keeps me from buying one.
