I wonder what the filtering efficiency is of the performance intake vs. the stock airbox?

Just received an email from CAI Inc. about there Gen 6 Camaro intake and it reminded me of this dumb argument from a while back. See the similarities now??

Have they flat out said they make the intake for GM performance? I saw the other threads but I may have missed it.

They have not. Those things are usually kept in secret, NDA's are in place (Non Disclosure Agreement). But it's obvious lol. No one will say what is different either as people will choose either/or after that. From pictures, I can tell you that the only difference I see are the filters. I am ASSUMING from looking at the pictures is that the CAI intake has a more higher flow cone filter aka "better" than the GM one. However, GM one COMES with a TUNE which may boost it to the levels of CAI gains that have NO tune. CAI intake with a tune would however be "better" than the GM one.

This is just my assumption derived from my own research and experience. I didn't make either filter nor was I in the inner circle of it.

Seems to me that the only thing that would require a tune is if the cross section of tube around the MAF is a different circumference than the stock setup. Nothing else about the cold air intake should affect any aspect of tuning as the engine would adapt to any beneficial colder air and you're not ramming air in so there's no issue with positive intake pressure.

So that would suggest that either the GM Performance intake has a larger intake tube than stock and C.A.I's is not or that the tune, if there is one, is tweaking something else that could be done regardless of the intake.
