GM quality

I really wish GM could duplicate their quality across the board. My recent vehicles in the family are; my brand new acadia=awesome, brand new silverado=awesome, another silverado=awesome, 2 brand new equinoxes=awesome, even my brand new 2012 camaro 2lt was aweome. But my brand new camaro 2ss is junk. I have always love camaros. I've had about 30 of them from every generation and they have all been great. I don't think that it's unreasonable to expect no issues except maybe just a couple small ones out of a $50,000 car.

Care to qualify "junk" with some specifics?

coolie376 may be a bit out of line using "Junk" to describe his new Camaro. But
there does seem to be more quality issues on the new '16 Camaro compared to
when the new 5th gen came out. Sure there were some, but nothing like what
I'm seeing on here now.

Careful... your opinion might be deemed as hate speech on this forum and the thread will magically disappear. Only supportive and positive comments are what people want to hear.

Is this site running on the Clinton email server? Lol

All I asked was clarification.

No. It's running on a private server, however, which means we get to run it and moderate as we see fit. We wrote a short list of rules for posting to outline our expectations, and the only posts that will disappear are those that are disrespectful, or trolling/repetitive/obnoxious.

We prefer to keep our site as clean and friendly as possible.

I'd like to hear an elaboration also. I thought the interior and quality was supposed to be better than the 5th gen, not worse...

I have a minor paint blemish on mine but chalk it up to a first year production car, no biggie my dealer is fixing it and I will enjoy the hell out of it! You will find that if you find a dealer that understands you, and sees the problem from the customers point of view they are very willing to help, if that's not your local dealer go to another one. If you go in swinging for the fences and yelling about I have 30 Camaros first, you're more likely to get told to kick rocks. I have never had a dealer or the GM zone rep disagree with me on a quality issue needing repair. And I can assure you I am more particular than 95% of owners.

I see it this way, GM moved the build to Mi to save money or something, on top of that they had to train all new members for there build team, bad move IMO, on top of that they had to add them to a line that was making a different car and add a new car to that line, needles to say that was not as good as they hoped.

The op posted some of his problems in this thread.

LOL then your lucky, dealer want call out the zone rep for my car on paint and fitment, and we by parts from them and i mean a lot of parts per month, so its all up to the dealer, and that is not good for the costomer.

LOL what are your paint and fitment issues? Did you try another dealer? Sounds like you aren't in front of the right people

They moved to Michigan because the new Camaro rides on a variant of the Alpha platform, same as the ATS which is produced in Lansing. It only makes sense to have related cars be produced at the same factory.

Overall, it seems that GM's quality has greatly improved over the last decade, heck, all of the American's have improved, but GM in particular as they now have engineers designing cars and not bean counters. (Although, yes, they still have bean counters)

There are few machines in this world as complex as the automobile. It's amazing that these things even function at all, lol. When you make as many of these things as GM does, there are bound to be a few lemons out there, perfection is rare if not impossible. There are no mainstream manufacturers that are immune to this, it happens to all of them.

Then if you consider how many of the individual parts and systems are contracted out to outside suppliers, quality control becomes an exercise in cat herding from a logistics standpoint.
