Probably would keep my ZL1 longer and then later jump to a Stingray Z51

All my previous sport cars have standard transmission ('05 Infiniti G35 sport coupe, 911 Porsche Carrera and'11 Mustang GT 5.0). Both the 911 & 5.0 had modified suspension since they were DD but I also use them for weekend tracking at my local PCA. Now I have a ZL1 that I really enjoy and is automatic but with a S.C.

2017 Chevy Camaro 1LE: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know :
Not a complaint or grip, but an assumption about the new 1LE. I know that this has been viewed by most if not all posters on this forum, but I went back and listened to ensure what I was hearing was what Al O. was saying. At 05:15 Al states that the new '17 1LE is 3 seconds quicker that the 5Gen 1LE on a 2 minute track. Now that this dead horse has been kicked plenty of times...he did seem to imply that the new 1LE is(as we know) a track focused car and kinda cautions with out saying it, that it is not intended as a DD, not that it couldn't be, and they(Al and team) would not compromise a track car for a city car. I think that this '17 1LE is going to change peoples minds when they test drive it and find out that the ride is not what they envisioned. Al O. seemed to keep emphasizing that this is a track car and could be street-able. I'm thinking ride quality like the 5Gen Z/28 here... My 2017 1LE is finding a low mileage '15 Z/28... This new 1LE is a track car period, and that is what it should be used for according to Al. Have to admit, I have yet to track mine for several reason and hope to some day, but I think this new one will please the ones who track their cars and the people that don't, my guess is they will probably pass on purchasing one. If ride quality on the street is no issue, then this should not deter the ones that still have kidney's. The truth will be known when the car is out. I just hope the paint on the 1LE's rims is better than the 5Gen 1LE/ZL1's. Peace

Although the MRC is standard because it enhances the track capabilities of the 1LE, I have to think it will also improve overall ride quality in non-track situations.
That is why the MRC is always a recommended pairing when ordering the Z51 package in a Vette. It smooths things out a bit when you're not at the track. It's creates a nice balance between track performance and good road manners. |

I'm not worried about it. It has to be better than my GT500

I hear you. I was really hoping for an A8 1LE too, Chevy is going to miss a lot of sales with this move. It was an opportunity to do something Ford isn't doing and grab those customers too.

Nah, Ford and Chevy already make models for the automatic buyers.

GM doesn't have that excuse, the A8 is exceptional. If Team Corvette "allowed" the A8 on the C7 GS, even with the Z07 package, there is no good reason it shouldn't have been on the 1LE beyond stupidity. |

Every 'option' that someone might say where they are like 'omg GM is so stupid for not offering this particular option I want', adds to the possible configurations of the car, and the more configurations the more the cars cost to make from a manufacturing standpoint. The fewer the options the easier to manufacture. |

It seems pretty clear to me that this was not done from a perspective of it being cost prohibitive. It seems like it was done to keep the appeal of the 1LE limited or perhaps to keep the price point low enough below the ZL1. I'm OK with this even if it means I'm not happy that I can't get it on the 2SS. I just want GM to admit it. A 2SS 1LE is definitely what I want. |
