Hmm, good info. I never owned a gen5. So with this launch control, when pressing the accelerator all the way down, the RPMs will stop/level out at a certain RPM instead of going up to redline? And one it stops (guess of 3000ish RPM) you just let out the clutch? |

Yes, it's pretty simple on the M6.
You press the traction control button twice to turn off along with Stabilitrak and enter Competitive Mode. It must be in either Sport or Track Mode and the wheels must be pointed straight. You put in the clutch and then you put the Accelerator all the way to the floor. The RPM's will level out and stabilize. Then you quickly let out the clutch and away you go. I have had kinda mixed results with the launch control. Guessing it will be helpful for less skilled drivers to launch without spinning. However, the times don't seem to be that great so it's not the best for trying to get the best 0-60 time IMO |

Well I own a 2SS with 6 speed I did launch control today 0-60 3.9sec. I shifted and never let off the gas pedal. did have some wheel spin tell the computer took over and lowered the RPM automatically. the engine rev. to about 4500 RPM and i dumped the clutch fairly quick. I was suppressed how much wheel spin there was. i noticed a decent amount of tire smoke. Tires spun but not like a lot of spin for about 10 feet. felt nice.

The gen 5 ZL1 had no lift shift. That was carried into the CTSV and The C7 vette. Your 16 SS should have no lift shift. You do not need to do anything to activate it, just powershift like the old days (do not lift off the gas). If you have never power shifted a manual I would practice shifting a warmed up car with the engine off. Just go thru the motions with the gas pedal to the floor, stab the clutch and shift as fast as you can for each actual shift 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 .
The biggest issue is to train yourself not to lift and you have to initiate the shift. |

I have not been able to get this to work on my a8, has anyone with automatic got it working. I pressed twice, then held foot on brake, and pressed gas hard, but the tire's just spin, like I'm trying to do a burnout, what am I doing wrong.

But old days off show room performance to now show room, we were a lot slower even if you do not power shift. Enjoy how quick they are now because ,like before, it can go away. Edit: As quick as they are now, I would modify my old days and keep these rides to the track, strip or very wide open roads. No red light drags as you would be all over someone just hitting second for a blink. And street racing (changing lanes) was never done in the "old days". |
