Really, in all their tests, the M4 won the "doughnut" competition by a point...and then beat the SS on the track by .2 seconds...which is so marginal, you have to call it a tie for all the reasons out there. The Camaro kept with it on the track, beat it in a straight line, and brakes quicker. It also is like $40k cheaper. The Camaro won their subejctive test as well, and they made jokes about that the whole time. I love how they're responding to everyone saying they are in GM's pocket and get paid to say Chevy is better...they joke about that in the video as well. It was a great video all in all.

I can go into more detail if anyone wants to know. Ask away.

So did the BMW beat it in the performance metrics or not?

Did MT choose the Camaro as the winner despite having lower performance figures?

What's the cut and dry facts?

It didn't have lower performance figures...it got beat on the track by .2 seconds, which anyone knows is negligible. They picked the Camaro because it was the obviously better car overall.

I enjoyed watching even with those two guys who admitted, tongue in cheek, to being historically more european leaning brand lovers but that the Camaro was just that MUCH MORE of a sports car and truly more enjoyable on top of being a much greater value with more content.

Yea, they definitely gave the M4 props for being quick on the track...but it's not just track performance...Chevy beat the M4 in all other performance areas, and it also is just the more fun car to drive. Listening to that drone from the M4 exhaust is nauseating and I don't care who you are. Also, you have to pay for leather in an already $81k car? LOL....and BMW now does the fake audio coming through the speakers as well? On an $80k car? Come on people. BMW was supposed to be all about class. Nothing classy about a car that you have to option out to close to $100k just to get options that come on every other sports car out there for $30k and up.

Also add in the Camaro won all objective measures - ride, handling, steering feel, and obviously sound.

There was a time when it was worth paying that for a BMW. Because they WERE the ultimate driving machine.

The company has severely cheapened out on their interiors and the overall feel of the car is not what it used to be. It could be blamed on their conversion from hydraulic to electric power steering, but everyone has done that now. Honestly the Camaro has a nicer interior than the 4 series now. The rest of the world has caught up to BMW and BMW has gone down hill.

Got to drive a 1989 7 series once. Best handling car I've EVER driven. As good or better than most modern cars. But modern BMW's? They're crap compared to what they used to be.

And this was with the run flat tires and 4 piston front brakes.

1:23.15 on Streets of Willow for the SS, M4 did it at 1:22.94. Camaro smoked it in the 1/4 68 times out of 75.

Yea, just trying to be fair and give the M4 the 1 win it had. Lol. The 1 that most people won't even do. Take it to a road course. In all fairness though, yea...the numbers are too close to have a definitive winner, for all intents and purposes.
