HUD Display Info

Do certain models get certain aspects of the HUD features?

The manual clarifies Base Cluster HUD & Up-level Cluster on listed features..my question pertains to a few of the following features listed, such as the Signal Indicator, Shift Timing Lights (for auto/paddle shifting performance),. but not identified as either.. I did see a post weeks ago about the turn signals but couldn't track it down to follow up... and for those who must know, and not see it in my pic below.. I have a 2LT/RS V6 A8 with Conv Pkg

Speed View : This display gives the speedometer reading, turn signal indication, transmission positions (for automatic transmission vehicles only), and speed alert.

Performance View : This display gives the speedometer reading, rpm reading, transmission positions (for automatic transmission vehicles only), Shift Timing Light Position, and lateral acceleration (G) indicators. The radio, CD, navigation, and phone information do not appear in Performance view. The shift timing lights at the top of the display will appear with increases in engine rpm. The rows of lights get closer together as the shift point gets closer. Shift the transmission before the lights come together in the display. Shift immediately if the lights are flashing. See Manual Mode 0 211 or Manual Transmission 0 2

All huds are the same, the manual is wrong. A victim of gm cut and paste on their manuals..

Less than 2014+ HUD? I haven't spent much time in a 2SS/2LT, yet...

Well, I don't know the other models options, but the HUD screens are basic..the most useful is the RPM, Speed, G's & Gear indicator screen...the rest is just Speed/NAV, XM/Speed.. No dial RPM visual, No shift indicator, no turn indicator.

With all the useful, configurable dash info, it's disappointing most of it does not translate to any HUD screens...

Sounds a lot like what's featured, now. If you accelerate full-throttle, the shift lights appear on the rpm/G's/speed screen. I'm a little surprised at no turn indicator...but I don't think I'll miss that.

Aside from the better color and resolution in the 2016 HUD. I think the one from my 2014 was better.

Mainly because of the lack of turn signal and high beam indicators. No outside temperature and the radio information on mine only shows the channel and the artist. The 20014 showed artist and song title in the HUD.

I always left the HUD in my 2014 on the screen that showed all the indicators plus speed, temperature, direction and artist/song info when a new song started.

Nope..No lights...except the Red & Blue one behind me when I floored it! Must be an SS option...

No lights here either. Floored it yesterday 2nd and 3rd gear, nothing. Mine is a SS M6.

Now that's very strange. I know you guys can all read fine, but the manual does not seem to specify between LT, or SS...This is where the shift lights should be located on the performance screen of the HUD. (they're the line of dots)

Excellent discussion. I get my car tomorrow and thought the available options for the HUD and other performance selections was a bit intimidating, but his helps. Thanks.

2LT. I do not have the shift timing lights.

Maybe you have to get over a certain rpm before they'll appear? I'm still in break in, so haven't been over 4k.

Normal operation is nearly full throttle, and higher in the rev range, yes.
