Just became a 6th gen Convert
One of the dealerships in the town I live finally received a 6th gen 2SS with NPP exhaust. Man that thing scared the jeebas out of me when the dealer enabled the remote start function. That NPP is louder than my Solo Mach catback on my 5th gen. Anyways, I didn't get to drive but my first impressions totally surprised me; I wasn't expecting to like the 6th gen this much!
The interior is drastically better. The cabin sure feels smaller and a little bit more cramped (I'm 5' 10"). The layout of the interior is better than my 5th gen. The dash sits a little taller but it seems like the visibility out front is better than the 5th gen. The back seats definitely is smaller and probably unusable depending how far back I set my seat. The quality is there. The exterior is something that I was questioning when I saw the 6th gen debut. I tell you this, the 6th gen exterior grew on me so much after seeing it in person that seriously made me consider trading in my baby. I'm still loving my 5th gen but will convert to a 6th gen SS vert in the near future. Congrats to those who have received their 6th gen! |

Lol, don't drive it. These 6th gen cars are even better once you drive it.

Don't have my car yet but test drove 3 (two stick, one A8). I have nothing to compare my experience to (currently drive a Subaru Outback) but it was an absolute thrill, adrenalin rush to drive.

It's very tempting indeed to test drive one. Too bad they didn't have the color I wanted.
I've noticed that you guys ordered your 6th gens with the A8 transmission and that the prior cars were stick shifts. Is it really that impressive to change from manual transmission to auto transmission? The thing that bugs me about the 6spd is that the "handbrake" is gone. I guess I would get used to it after while..

I drove two autos before making the final decision to get one. The test drivers were short, but I was highly impressed with the performance. It always bugged me to hear of people test driving dealers cars like they stole them. Now, I would be hard pressed to accept a car with much more than, like, 10 miles.
The test drives were enough to convince me to trade my awesome 2010 Grand Sport C6.

I prefer the auto in every way, and so does my wife and 20 year old son. We've had manual cars for years, but this auto is awesome. The way it shifts, especially from 3rd to 4th at WOT drag racing, is amazing. It is really fun using manual shift functions.

I came from a manual G8 GXP and GTO and would have preferred a manual. However, my wife said no Camaro. I said what about an auto and she said maybe. That was all I needed, just a bit of wiggle room! Plus, the auto is faster and if I do have to commute downtown Houston, sitting in traffic sucks in a manual.

However, there just seems no place in America where it's safe (from many dangers, tickets included) where you can wind out a fast car even through 2nd gear. So, the auto does a good job of pacifying those urges to hear the exhaust, feel the torque, punch another gear and feel some of that thrill, while allowing wives the opportunity to drive one of the finest cars in the world. Thus, my Camaro 2SS, 8A. Oh, and car shows are nice too...you could never guess that one of Italy's most famous car girl models would show up. Corvettes didn't interest her, she drove a Viper.

I'm sure there are as many pluses for the 6M, but for now, it's 8A for me.
