Mosaic Black Metallic????

I am finally going to place my order for a 2SS Vert on Tuesday. My first color choice is MBM. I'm getting nervous about this color with all of the issues that seem to be with that color. Should I or shouldn't I, What would you do? Oh my second choice would be Nightfall Gray Metallic, which I have not heard about any issues.

While there have definitely been issues with MBM, think about how many we've actually heard about. 3-4 cases it seems. I'm sure there are more out there but it doesn't seem to be an issue with all of them. I would maybe print out some photos of the issues seen here and bring them in when you order to tell the dealership you'll be looking for these issues. While they don't personally have anything to do with it, you've at least put them on notice so if it comes in bad, you can feel fine with refusing delivery if you want to.

...and wash it really carefully following instructions like Glen E's on here.

I had a similar paint job on my WRX (Java Black Pearl) and when you had the right lighting to make it pop you also saw all the swirling and things that needed correction. But, MAN, when you have the finish on point it looks AMAZING!

I've been meaning to ask this for a while. Your post just reminded me of it. I would appreciate input from all Mosaic Black Metallic owners.

Is MBM as difficult and annoying to maintain as a solid Black car? Or do the gold flecks hide dust and swirls better?

Right now, I'm debating between Garnet Red and Mosaic Black Metallic. If it's as rediculous to maintain as Black...I'm gonna go with my first choice.

Not a professional detailer by any means but we have had many cars, boats and bikes with pearl, candy and metal flake type paints. While these colors are beautiful when properly maintained in my experience, from what I have been taught from pros they require same attention that a regular black paint job would get. Some people think you can get away with letting metal flake hide imperfections and I guess one could but we are not those type of people.

With that being said with the current situation we are in with the severe paint issues on our mosaic black 2016 camaro would we want another mosaic black car? Not at this time. We are glad most people received properly painted cars however there are mosaic black cars on dealerships lots right now with paint issues before and after our VIN number. Obviously something was not right for a series of cars and we don't want to gamble on that with the next car.

Very helpful, thank you.

Is there somewhere I can see pics of your car? If you don't mind, I am just curious about the issues your car has with the paint.

Happy to sy my MBM...shines like a diamond, despite orange peel. I rationalized my decision to buy this color because I am a guy that wipes his car down each night regardless how dirty so it is just a labor of love for me.

Is orange peel really an "issue" I mean I cant even remember the last car I owned that didn't have some level of orange peel. It seems to be more of an issue with how cars are painted now days than an actual defect no?

I traded a 2013 ss that was jet black in on this one and the short answer is yes, it seems to be a bit easier to maintain and yes it does "hide" swirl marks better than a solid black car. Hope this helps.

I had a black 4th gen. It was the cat's meow. My husband had a white 4th gen. We are ready for another Camaro. I want another black Camaro. He wants gray. So after about a year of fights we have decided on a Mosaic Black 2SS. It will be a third car and we have a garage so as long as our paint is good from the factory, it will be gorgeous for the duration. Having a nice black car is work. And it's totally worth it. Good luck!

It s all in the eye of the beholder my man...as I said I had it on my C7 and it is all over this car, in patches. I wish I ad the quality of paint on a Nisson Altima over this one, but it is what it is. I can spend alot of $$ to minimize it thru wet sanding ect.. but have better things to spend my $$ on. I do not regret getting MBM one bit and once I am done it will look smoking.
