Are 6th Gen Owners the new 'Mustang' guys?
It kind of caught me a little off guard but are we 6th gen owners the new "mustang" guys to at least some of the Camaro5 owners?
I considered Camaro5 and Camaro6 as one big family but dang where is the thought of the 6th Gens being basically just the same exact Camaro but over priced and with more flaws coming from? Is this just an isolated incident or a trend? http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=1#post8913446 |

It's a stupid pi$$ing match. I understand how some gen5 people feel. They are entitled to their opinion. I loved my gen5, but after owning my gen6 for a month, it's a completely different car in alot of ways. Better in many ways, again my opinion.

This comment of mine is going to be a bit different than all my other posts as I try to be positive/supportive about my posts but things about this exact topic is getting quite ridiculous (not you though, the topic).
You did make a huge mistake and it is to post on the gen5 side. Yes, there. I said it. Gen5 guys show MUCH more hatred towards gen6 than mustang/challanger drivers do. I could give a rats crap less about it if they are having some mental problems. I have even been flipped off by a dude in a gen5 driving down the highway going the speed limit, didn't even cut him off or anything. Stared at my car, then flipped me off and "gunned" it with his stock v6. Let alone all the "nasty" looks I get from gen5 drivers... I did have only ONE gen5 SS older couple who smiled and gave me thumbs up though but 1 out of at least 12? And I have gotten thumbs up from MULTIPLE mustangs and challenger (hellcat included) drivers. Hell, including vette guys c6 and c7. No, we are not the new "mustang" guys. Issue is not with us. I don't go over the c5 side and laugh at them or flip off / give nasty looks on gen5 drivers on the road. Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion EXCEPT when it such inferiority complex is involved. Then you just keep your opinion to yourself. If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything. Hell, even if you are... There are so many "better" options and words that you could describe that you do not like it which is fine. But being "hostile?", that's a whole other ball game. Don't like the gen6? Can't handle how much more of a car it actually is over the gen5? THEN DON'T BUY IT and DON'T throw "crap" at it because you. are. simply. wrong. And get over it. |

Some pretty ridiculous comments.
Funny how everyone that is somehow against the 6th gen love to say they all cost 50k. Sure cause rounding up 5 to 7 grand makes prefect sense. Only 30 more hp says one guy....right...That's all it is. Forget the massive torque gain under the curve and the over 200 lbs lost....naa that doesn't matter. I loved my 5th gen. If the 6th gen styling isn't for you that's fine. But don't act like the car isn't a great improvement in so many ways, when it really is. Msrp to msrp, It will take the cost difference in mods to make a 5th gen SS match a 6th in all performance metrics. It's all good though...I still love looking at 5th gens!

I guess I learned a lesson tonight to just not post about the 6th gen over there, even if I say over and over that I loved my 5th Gen too and that I am not saying the 6th Gen is superior, it just seems to run some the wrong way I guess.

Sounds to me like Camaro owners are just turning into jerks. (From both generations) I have commented on this before. But the attitudes are pretty bad. The forums get kind of cliquey too. You will see a person that shows they washed their car gets 30 responses and someone that really put forth some work gets 1 or 2. To be honest, it is way worse than the 370z world and staggeringly worse than the nova community.
I don't really get it. I thought we were all supposed to be car fans. If you like your 10-15 Camaro, AWESOME. If you chose to get a 16, GREAT. But why bash a person for buying a 16 or comment that it is ugly, etc. It is stupid. I stated I did not get a mustang because the local mustang clubs tend to be jerks at the car show. (my good friend drives a mustang and we just took pics of the cars together) Sadly, it seems the Camaro folks are acting the same way. Is it jealousy? Is it "mine is cooler than yours"? Is it machismo? Who knows. But it is dumb. |

I don't devalue anyone's opinion, mine is no more important than theirs, I just was trying to give an honest opinion for those who might be considering moving from 5th gen to 6th gen. |

I just don't get it. I love all makes / types of cars, even the Mustang. It has been a back and forth battle (Camaro and Mustang) for almost 50 years. Ford vs. Chevy for over 100 years. I hope the battle continues for another 50, 100 years. Competition is good for all car brands. The improvements that Ford is making to the GT350 for 2017 is a direct response to the 6th gen. Camaro SS. |
