I picked car up last Friday, it's been raining the whole time, just saw my car in sunlight.

It looks like I have a patch about the size of the fuel door, just above and behind the door. I'll try to get a picture after I wash it tonight. The patch has the same coloration as the smudge above... it's not primer showing through, more like a lightening of the color. Hopefully, it'll "buff right out" as it has for others.

I see different GM reps posting on all the vette and camaro forums. We have not been contacted in a thread nor by PM. Does that shock me? Not even a little.

This is on the trunk lid, slightly offset to the right side of the lid. It won't wipe away so I have no clue what it is. It's 10.5-11" long and 4" wide at the widest area. I included that in the pictures I sent to the dealer where we got the car from. Of course they had nothing to say about that or the 10+ paint related issues on the 2 day old/200 mile car other than to pass the buck to us to pass the buck to another dealer. That BS stops tomorrow one way or another.

Maybe if someone from GM is reading this they will decide to step up and really fix the issue by offering us $50 off a $300 car cover. At least it would hide all their piss poor paint job and make up for the absolutely appalling customer service.
Well, first off, sugar instead of vinegar.

Second, that looks like a dealership employee got a tad bit happy with the detailing there. It looks like the clear has been glazed over similar to the OP. The reason that the claybar took it off is because the dealers always have young, young, young kids detailing the cars. Too much product, too fast of an RPM on the orbital and bam, you have that.

If that's the case, why does the dealer have to do any detailing in the first place? is that because GM did not do a good job of preparing the car to start?

I was told (or read, can't remember) that they may need to wash it to properly inspect it, and (guessing) paint correction may be required to remove scratches that occurred during shipping.

But I've also found that people simply can't believe I don't want my car washed. I used to take my car to a place with "Corvette" in the name for maintenance. Requested no wash, and I'd still show up half the time to find them in the process of washing it. Idiots.

Sigh, the reason the cars usually get a good detailing is they have just been outside for a month or two. Riding on a railcar produces a LOT of rail dust. Then, on the back of a transport carrier to the dealership. The cars are actually quite filthy by the time they reach the dealership hands.

Some cars do travel a long way, and some cars that sit at GM for long time come like you said, but not all, my car was shipped all of 45Mi from the plant and i know there are more that only went less then 200 Mi with paint problems, still say GM needs to do a much better job in the paint area.

Picked up my car today and the paint was perfect, mine is Nightfall Grey. However they had a Mosaic Black RS on the showroom floor and it too had defects. Not as bad as shown in this thread but they were there. Paint missing in the door jambs and trunk hing area. On the trunk lid there was a flat spot or foggy spot in the clear coat. Also had a good bit of orange peel. Didn't take any pictures because I was too busy taking delivery of my own vehicle.

Unless its sprayed by hand, there will be issues. Trust me, they are ALL out there. Someone showed their BMW in one of the threads and it was dismissed.

I get that, but if i remember the 2 Hr show on how they built the 5th gen on the line there where body guys that fixed scratches on the line, and you cant say missing paint cant be added by the robots at the same time its done with the old cars.

Yeah even though the dealer thinks mine was done at the factory I am not sure? The dealer may have very well have done it during detailing. I bought this car off the lot so it was not an ordered car so I didn't get to tell them not to detail it but to be honest besides that smudge the paint is in great shape. I imagine that GM will do something about all your paint problems. Obviously they are aware of these problems because I have seen 2 others on here (1 with mosaic black and 1 with white I believe) that are being taken care of. If not then you have every right to seek legal help as like you said the car barely has any miles on it. Good luck!

Those are not damages from the factory. Sorry. That is dealer/shipping company issues.

Oh I know, it pisses us off to no end but that's the least of the problems.
