I look at my 15 sometimes and wonder why I ordered a 16. Yes it weighs less and has more power but I like the 15's wider and longer look. Just wish it was 250 lbs less. I'd take the less weight and live with the ls3. Its tough love for sure.

I can confirm alot of ppl don't even notice that this a newer generation camaro, just saying!
And yes doing a new gen car should be dramatic but whatever car is great so it's all good.

With evolved styling, they will look similar....not necessarily a bad thing...If it's recognized as a Camaro, regardless of year or generation, then they did their job.

If it gets someone interested who is not that familiar with all the differences, they will become knowledgeable soon enough...

I don't think it really matters how similar the gen 6 is to the gen 5. The gen 6 Camaro was the number 4 googled car in 2015 (I suspect I'm responsible for about 25% of that ), so the awareness is out there. The previous design was a hit, so why do anything drastic? It's worked for Porsche for decades.

No thanks

Just went to the car show here in Pittsburgh with my dad as its a tradition for us every year... I own a 2015 camaro and was thinking about getting the 2016, but when I seen the 2016 I could not tell it was a 2016 until I got close to it. My dad and I kept saying is that it? No that's a 2015, wait no.... Is it? Maybe? Until finally when we got close enough and we were like ahhhh it is a 2016... At which point I realized the 2014/2015 may end up being the most sought after version of the camaro yet. It's the best of both worlds. It keeps the muscle look and looks more intimidating and majestic coming at you and also, it still has some of the more modernized aspects of the 2016! My dad immediately said nahh, keep yours.... Also the fact that the back seat is too small and now just for show and can't be used anymore is also a bad point to me. As I love to be able to go for summer rides with the top down with my wife, son and daughter comfortably in the back.... That could not happen in this camaro. Looks like I will be waiting to see what they do with the 6th gen refresh or just wait for 7th gen.

I haven't seen a gen 6 on the road yet. I have seen some late gen 5's that I thought were gen 6's until they got closer.

A few years ago i was lucky enough to take my 2008 350z Nismo to a track day at Homestead, compliments of Nissan(Nismo Performance Academy). On the way back I stopped at a gas station to fill up and a man struck up a conversation about my car. I could tell by the look his face, he wasn't sure what it was, but didn't want to sound stupid so he didn't ask, as he strolled around the back he noticed the Nissan badge and then said, and I quote word for word... are you ready for this? he said.. "Nissan 350z, hmm, 350 as in a Chevy 350?"

What do you say to that?

I just smiled, and proceeded to explain it to him. He then began to tell me how much of a car guy he was, and how much time he'd spent under the hood of random cars, and yada yada, it's hard to take someone serious after a comment like that.

It was a tough conversation. Catch 22 almost, since he was quite a bit older, I was 33 at the time and he was probably 50-ish, I was respectful, but on the other hand, because of his age and 'experience under the hood' he should have known better.

When I parked my 15 next to the 16 in my decision making process, I no longer "loved" my 15's looks. This car has definitely changed the styling dramatically to me. Do I care if others notice? They noticed at the drag strip, that's for sure.

I feel like the 2016's face has too many characteristics in common with the refresh, making the high-level "profile" of the face very similar. As mentioned in the OP:

- LED headlights (when on and especially at night, the details could get blurred)
- Narrow grill opening
- 3 section lower fascia (that is, 3 distinct areas that are not body color)

At a very quick glance, since both models share the above attributes, I would get confused. I've seen the 2016 in person, and it did take me a couple seconds to identify it. When I see an older 5th gen, the much taller grill opening makes it instantly identifiable by comparison.

I almost agree with you on the exterior, but the interior is way better. I would say don't listen to your dad and get a 16

I'm surprised this old thread came back to life. Lol.

About 6 weeks later, and I've began seeing a 2016 on the road almost daily on my commute. It's the only one, and the same one each time. I've actually learned to identify it by the slightly different intensity that the headlights make compared to the 2014/2015. I know that sounds weird, but it works. While these things are driving, I seriously struggle to do all the mental processing at once to figure out if it's a 2016 or not. I continue to mistake 2014/2015's for 6th gens. I still takes 2-3 seconds to fully register.

I find this thread funny. Most of what I read is gen 5 owners saying it does not look much different unless they already decided to buy. Personally I think for a Camaro fan there is a huge difference. I have had about dozen people come up to me and immediately know it was a 6th gen. Even a guy when I was in the barber shop hunt down the whole complex to see if he could look at the interior and was more excited for a mid 60's guy then I have seen in awhile.

My answer to the OP question is I do not think the 5th gen revision will make a difference in purchasers for the 6th gen. I am one of those reasons and proof. I hated the weight of the 5th gen Camaro and would not buy a bloated sports car period. I own the 6th gen. I also drive by 4 5th gen Camaro's on my commute (2 Black, 2 yellow) and can tell immediately what they are.
