No More Blipping to be had

Many of us who have had muscle cars with carbs. and/or old manual trans cars can remember blipping the throttle at take off or between gears for instant revs. I noticed in my 2011 that coming off idle and attempting to blip it no longer blips but the rev/blip is slow and sluggish. I thought it was just me. But I was looking at a 2016 SS manual the other day with the dealer and noticed that one didn't blip either and the salesman immediatly chimed in and said none of the newer cars blip anymore do to the electronic throttle and computer controls that monitor gas mileage. It used to be cool to blip. All I have to blip now is my motorcycle.

Sounds like you need a Vitesse throttle controller.

I have a 2016 1SS with manual and 2500 miles, I do not see this problem. I have not noticed what you are explaining as it does not have any delay with the throttle for me. Maybe you get used to giving it a little more throttle. Although I adjust fast to vehicles driving so many different one's all the time. I do ride motorcycles and understand what you are saying but no problems here.

The manual SS has rev matching built in, I think you just need to turn that off.

I get plenty of blip through my pipes!! No problem here. You have to time it right to get a good blip.

Turn the Rev Match ON!

Every time you press in the clutch it will give you your much needed "Blip".

Even going from stop sign to stop sign, leaving it in first (short distance), it will rev up.

I noticed this too when I test drove one. I blipped the throttle a little bit from a stop when I first started going and damn near stalled the car when the revs didn't rise as I let the clutch out. I had to push the clutch back in to save it Then I gave it a little more gas and rode the clutch a little more than I like (but really nothing bad). By the end of the test drive I had it down pretty good but it was definitely a little different than any manual I have ever driven.

As was previously mentioned most newer cars are "drive by wire" you have no direct linkage between your pedal and the engine...that is all left to your throttle mapping in your ECM, gone are the days where you had one to one reaction. The Vitesse throttle controller is a harness and a small box that you attach to existing linkage and then what was plugged into the harness for the car is now plugged into the "box/Brain" for the Vitesse unit. Making a long story short you "teach" the controller what 100% (pedal to the floor) and 0% ( pedal not pressed), once it knows that you can have 1:1 or any ratio in between. There are also settings that allow you to add fuel econ, again will give you a delay that you control so that regardless how much you "mash" it will only give you so much ...so quick...hope this helps
